The IFC Africa Department is seeking applications for the position of Operations Analyst to provide analytical support to the Senior Country Officer (Tunisia and Libya). She will work on ensuring projects and day-to-day operations meet corporate standards; will assist in research, analytical and operational work; and will also support the coordination of work across managers, management team/strategy unit/regional team. The position will be based in Tunis.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Work closely with the Senior Country Officer (Tunisia and Libya) and will be primarily responsible for supporting client engagement leads on day-to-day operational program delivery.
• Prepare internal and external documents, briefs, budgets, ensure peer review of project documents, help identify appropriate consultants and prepare necessary documentation for contracting and payment.
• Ensure Investment/Advisory/Upstream projects are meeting corporate requirements regarding IDD (Integrity Due Diligence), budgets, agreements with and reports to development partners, drafting and filing of legal cover memos, risk monitoring including ES&G and public disclosure. Ensure good work standards are consistently applied, e.g. legal, results measurement, environment, social and risk, conflict-of-interest, procurement, and finance.
• Prepare presentations, reports and excel spreadsheets to present information and analysis to a variety of audiences by extracting data from multiple databases and present the data to a high degree of accuracy and consistency.
• Conduct research, prepare analysis of industry related data, and draft presentations.
• Tracking progress on departmental Key Performance Indicators and provide projections.
• Support on resource management. Draft Terms of Reference for consultants in coordination with technical specialists or subject matter experts.
• Support teams in the organization of events such as missions, seminars, and donor meetings.
• Be the ‘go-to’ person for data and research and operational/resource support work for and from the region, generated or initiated.
• Prepare progress reports and any other documentation or materials required.
• Liaise and interact effectively with a network of contacts at all levels to respond effectively to inquiries and to diverse situations that require tact and pragmatic analytical skills.
• Maintain a good working knowledge of current advisory and investment operations in the region and be able to coordinate effectively with industry managers on specific portfolio monitoring and internal and external reporting.
• In cooperation with the finance, results measurement and industry teams, construct and maintain reports to analyze and report on pipeline, commitments, operational and development impact performance of the region.
• Provide any other assistance needed for the day-to-day coordination of activities
Selection Criteria
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in economics, finance, business, or equivalent with 2 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to draft components of major reports, working papers, etc.
• Conduct research and analysis on difficult, but well-defined tasks; articulate issues and recommend solutions.
• Analytical skills and proven success using quantitative methods and data sources/standards to produce industry and sector research. Excellent financial modeling skills.
• Highly organized with understanding of good project management practices.
• Two years’ work experience in banking, consulting or another dynamic, knowledge-based work environment.
• Advanced Excel, PowerPoint and database skills.
• Excellent writing and oral communication skills in French, English, and Arabic.
• Strong attention to detail and quality.
• Excellent teamwork skills, ability to take initiative and work across interpersonal boundaries; high on energy with strong integrity; maintaining confidentiality and using discretion when required.
• Basic knowledge of IFC and related World Bank operations, processes, procedures, and systems to support projects and ensure compliance is a plus.
• Familiarity with IFC strategy, budgeting processes, databases (such as MIS, RMS, and other iDesk applications) would be an advantage.
• Ability to thrive and function effectively in a dynamic environment under tight deadlines, while working on multiple project.
• Have a deep understanding of both strategy and internal processes and standards to help teams deliver client solutions in line with both.
• Ability to build trusting relationships with client engagement staff and internal stakeholders who work on the adherence to corporate standards.
• Work successfully across boundaries and in a team setting and possess excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Well-organized.
• Show initiative and have strong project management and analytical skills.
