The IFC Sierra Leone is seeking an experienced professional as an Operations Officer to join the team that leads, oversees, and monitors the performance of the IFC program, and helps build IFC’s activities across all industries. The position is based in Freetown, Sierra Leone and reports to the IFC Resident Representative, Liberia and Sierra Leone (based in Monrovia, Liberia), under the overall country-cluster management of the IFC Country Manager, Ghana, Liberia and Sierra Leone (based in Accra, Ghana).
 
Duties and Accountabilities
 
The role and responsibilities of the position will include but not be limited to the following:
 
•  Work with the Resident Representative and the Country Officer to oversee the formulation, development, and implementation of IFC’s strategy in Sierra Leone, including preparing business plan updates and progress review meetings. 
•  Coordinate the development of IFC’s strategy.  Help create a long-term vision for IFC’s engagement in Sierra Leone.
•  Help develop a strong investment and advisory opportunities pipeline by following market trends, employing sector and country knowledge, and using market intelligence.
•  Proactively engage with clients to demonstrate and deliver IFC’s value-add, optimize the risk-return profile and development impact of IFC’s investments, and explore future business possibilities.
•  Monitor macroeconomic developments that can impact IFC’s activities in Sierra Leone and provide regular input to country and industry teams. 
•  Provide business intelligence to investment teams to enable them to identify integrity issues, devise appropriate investment structuring.
•  Collaborate closely with IBRD colleagues and other IFIs working in relevant sectors and help develop and implement joint sector engagement strategies.

 

Selection Criteria

 

•  Master’s degree or equivalent professional qualification in Business, Finance, Economics, or another similar field and at least 5 years of relevant experience.
•  In-depth understanding of how IFC works, and its strategies and priorities. Understanding of WBG and IFC’s mission, objectives and work at country level will be critical to the role.
•  Ability to collaborate with WBG organizations to leverage its products and instruments.
•  Strong understanding of real sectors, such as power, transportation, utilities, natural resources, telecoms, technology, manufacturing and Agri sectors.
•  Strong business development, asset management and client relationship skills demonstrated by track record and ability to focus on clients’ needs effectively.
•  Strong inter-personal skills, ability to interact effectively with clients and colleagues from various cultural backgrounds.
•  Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English are required.
