UNOPS in West Africa
The United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) is an operational arm of the United Nations, supporting the successful implementation of its partners’ peacebuilding, humanitarian and development projects around the world. Mandated as a central resource of the United Nations, UNOPS provides sustainable project management, procurement and infrastructure services to a wide range of governments, donors and United Nations organizations.
Based in Dakar, UNOPS Hub for West Africa oversees projects and operations in Cote d’Ivoire, Guinea, Mali, Niger and Senegal. The hub covers a large geographic scope including Benin, Burkina Faso, Chad, Guinea Bissau, Mauritania,Togo and also some English-speaking countries that are, Nigeria, Liberia, Sierra Leone Gambia in addition to those above mentioned.
The UNOPS office in Senegal has developed a strong working relation with the Governments of West Africa and international partners over the years. It provides technical support in strategic development areas including elections; procurement and related capacity building; environmental protection, as well as infrastructure rehabilitation and development.
Under the overall guidance and direct supervision of the West Africa Multi Country Director, and in close coordination with the Regional Office and the Partnerships Group, the Partnerships Advisor is responsible for developing and implementing the partnership and programme development plan for the offices and countries managed by the Multi Country Director.
About the Role
The Partnerships Advisor is the senior Partnerships Development Lead for the Multi-Country Office managing and advising other partnerships officers and/or adjacent roles.
Reporting to and under the general guidance of the Multi-Country Office Director, the Partnerships Advisor is a member of the Office Senior Management Team and responsible for developing and implementing the sub-regional partnerships development strategy and donor and client coordination activities.
The Partnerships Advisor provides situation analyses, donor mapping and programme development in collaboration with UNOPS’s existing and potential partners, including national governments, the UN System, donors and Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs). In addition, they liaise with these and other relevant stakeholders to identify partnership opportunities for UNOPS, based on the organization’s mandate and role as part of the UN system.
