Payload System Engineer in the Exploration and Suborbital Payloads Team, Research and Payloads Group, Directorate of Human and Robotic Exploration Programmes.
Reporting to the leader of the Exploration and Suborbital Payloads Team, you will be responsible for the system engineering activities related to the development of the exploration and suborbital payloads.
You will liaise closely with the industrial prime contractors and various teams in the Research and Payloads Group, particularly the Science and Utilisation Planning Teams, as well as the teams in the LEO Exploration Group, most notably the Engineering and the Operations Teams.
As Technical Officer for several payload development contracts, your responsibilities will include:

A master’s degree in engineering or physics is required for this post
Expertise in the mechanical, electronic/software or thermal fields is highly desirable.
Experience in experiment instrumentation would be an asset.
A good knowledge of payloads engineering and operations, experience of managing industrial activities and substantial industrial experience would be an asset.

In principle, recruitment will be within the advertised grade band (A2-A4). However, if the selected candidate has less than four years of relevant professional experience following the completion of the master’s degree, the position may be filled at A1 level.
