Position Title: Planning Lead, Institute of Global Health Equity

Reports to: Executive Director, Socios En Salud

Location: Lima, Peru

Employment Type: Full Time with 20% Travel

Position Overview

As a member of the Socios En Salud (SES) leadership team and the OnePIH Flagship program, this position will work cross-cutting with all facets of the organization in the planning and operationalizing of the Institute for Global Health Equity. This role is centered upon the ability to cultivate partnerships, build a strong team, develop an operational plan and strategize around resource mobilization efforts. This role is time-bound in nature with the expectation that once the leadership team for the Institute has been hired and onboarded, it will be phased out. This positions requires fluency in both Spanish and English as well as familiarity in working in Peru and the Latin America/South America context. Strong communication and high-level management skills are required for success in the role as well as flexibility and creativity.

 

Responsibilities

Strategic Partnership (20%)

  • Partner closely with the Executive Director, Socios En Salud, to articulate and implement the vision for the Institute.
  • Strategize with the Executive Director and SES leadership team on partnership cultivation and donor stewardship to ensure successful leverage of the expertise and historical success of the organization.
  • Document strategies across all disciplines and ensure alignment and buy-in from all key stakeholders and oversee a strategic plan and corresponding work plan for the Institute
  • Other responsibilities as requested by the Executive Director of Socios En Salud.

 

Partnership & Relationship Management (40%)

  • Lead the strategic engagement of the Institute Advisory Board and its members in the operational planning of this flagship project, including leveraging existing expertise, experience and networks.
  • Serve as the primary lead and point of contact for the Institute with the OnePIH Flagship team based at the US Coordination Site, including the sharing of resources and templates that have been utilized across various flagships across the organization.
  • In partnership with SES Administrative Director and General Counsel, work closely with the Finance and Legal teams on the US Coordination Site to ensure compliance and effective risk management.
  • Develop and lead strategy for mobilizing resources around the Institute.
  • Actively cultivate and steward high-level donors to the Institute, including site visits and overall strategy.

 

 

Operational Planning (40%)

  • Administrative oversight for operations of Institute as well as planning for operational growth and organizational systems.
  • Work with SES Finance Director and US Coordination Site Finance Department to create financial systems are aligned with existing systems and organizational strategies and programs.
  • Develop and implement organizational policies and procedures, including a Risk Management Plan, Employment Practices Policies, and other policies as baseline for the Institute’s administrative infrastructure.
  • Oversee administration of legal requirements and reporting in partnership with SES and US Coordination Site legal teams, including management of MOUs and other documentation.
  • Lead the development and implementation of an operational plan for the facility, clinical, and administrative components of the Institute.
  • Oversee the development of an operational budget for the Institute that reflects strategic growth of time as well as manage the planning budget from concept to opening.
  • In partnership with Human Resources at SES and the US Coordination Site, lead on the development of staffing structure and strategic plan for the Institute.
  • Lead the recruitment and hiring process for all core members of permanent leadership team of Institute.

 

Qualifications

  • Professional with a university degree in health sciences or business administration. MBA preferred.
  • 10+ years of relevant experience, including experience working with both public and private health services in Latin America, ideally Peru.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships across and outside of the organization
  • Strong leadership and problem-solving skills
  • Strong emotional intelligence and strategic thinking skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written – fluency in Spanish and English required
  • Expertise in organizational governance and board best practices
  • Exceptional diplomacy skills and superior attention to detail
  • Discretion and ability to manage confidential information appropriately
