Job Summary

IT Finance and Human Capital Management (ITDAI FH) Unit of the IT Department is seeking a Platform Owner/Sr. Platform Owner (Workday Expert) acting as an individual contributor to the Cloud (Workday) Support team. Working under the direction and supervision of unit Chief, this role will be responsible for analyzing business processes, understanding user needs and configuring Workday to meet these requirements. They must be able to act as subject-matter-expert on Workday and support the business through the entire lifecycle from requirement gathering to deployment to production. They will need to work in close collaboration with different stakeholders, including HR, Finance, and IT teams, among others, to ensure controls are being implemented and the platform is properly integrated with other HCM systems. This role is critical in ensuring the successful implementation and continuous improvement of Workday solutions within the organization. This position requires experience in Workday HCM, Recruitment, Talent and Performance, and Learning. Experience in Adaptive Insights and Workday Integrations is highly desirable.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

1.Collaborate with business stakeholders to gather and document requirements for any enhancements to the Workday platform or new features/modules.

2. Configure Workday to align with business needs and requirements, including designing business processes, custom reports, and dashboards, among others.

3. Recommend solutions or alternate methods to meet business requirements during the implementation and post implementation.

4. Coordinate and support technical testing for changes in Workday, ensuring that the scope and coverage of test cases is comprehensive. Maintain testing documentation.

5. Facilitate user acceptance testing, coordinating, and communicating with project teams and validating results.

6. Investigate and resolve technical issues reported by users related to Workday, including functionality, reports, integrations, among others.

7. Follows and enforces established procedures for addressing incidents, service requests and enhancements, ensuring full compliance with IT change management processes.

8. Maintains system stability and monitors the platform, ensuring that best practices in security, integrations and configuration are implemented. Monitor exception reports and resolve issues.

9. Supports the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of integrations with third party vendors and internal systems.

10. Loads, manipulates, audits, reports on data and makes complex mass changes, as needed, including building inbound and outbound EIBs.

11. Defines, supports, and maintains processes for granting security within Workday, including role definitions, security assignments, recertification of access and role maintenance.

12. Manages and facilitates internal and external audit activities. Responds to audit findings and provides needed artifacts as requested by auditors.

13. Serves as a partner across Finance, HR, IT, and other key stakeholders to document, test, and remediate controls and compliance related matters.

14. Stay current with Workday updates and new features and proactively identify opportunities for process improvement and optimization.

15. Coordinates testing and documentation for semi-annual upgrades; utilizes Workday Community to research and network with other users to brainstorm system solutions.

16. Assists in creating roadmaps for new features, including maintenance of development environments.

17. Delivers regular and ad-hoc reports on system utilization and user adoption in the form of dashboards, summaries, and trends, etc. to business leadership, as needed.

18. Supports development of Workday end-user training, accurately and effectively distilling complex technological concepts to promote user adoption and understanding.

19. Supervises the work of other Workday technical resources, implementing a culture of continuous improvement in the team.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Educational development, typically acquired through the completion of an advanced university degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics or related field of study or equivalent, plus a minimum of four years of relevant professional experience; or,
  • A bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field of study plus a minimum of 10 years of relevant professional experience, is required.

Specialized Skills/Knowledge

  • Workday expert with deep knowledge of business process framework and configuration, business objects, report writing, security and integrations.
  • Prior Workday implementation and operations support experience is mandatory including design, configuration, testing, deployment, and post-production monitoring.
  • Workday training/certification is required. HCM Core training/certification is mandatory, and Workday training on recruitment, leave and absence management, security, integrations, and other functional areas is highly desirable.
  • In-depth understanding of security models and approaches to implementing security architecture within Workday.
  • Strong project management capabilities with demonstrated success managing cross-functional projects.
  • Track record of being the go-to person for designing functional and technical system solutions to solve business problems.
  • Proven ability to build strong relationships, influence and collaborate with stakeholders.
  • Experience in managing, coaching technical teams and managing day to day work for the team.
  • Critical thinking and creative problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to seamlessly toggle between strategic and tactical efforts.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • A desire to be part of a dynamic and result-focused team with the ability to work under pressure and within tight deadlines.
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills with the ability to fully drive initiatives to completion.
  • Solution-oriented, resourceful, and self-motivated with the ability to train and mentor staff on Workday functionality.
  • Ability to manage a team and plan day-to-day operations.
  • Ability to handle highly confidential information and treat employee data with the highest discretion.

This vacancy shall be filled by a 3-year Term appointment in accordance with the Fund’s new employment rules that took effect on May 1, 2015.
