General Services Unit is a diverse service unit under Facilities Management and mandated to provide centrally managed general services at Dhaka, Matlab and other field sites in order to facilitate icddr,b’s research activities, hospital operation and other businesses to make them enable to attain their goals.

Key Responsibilities:

Plumber reporting to Assistant Engineer, Civil, will be primarily responsible for Install, repair and maintain different plumbing materials independently at icddr,b, Main Campus with the objective of smooth functioning of all plumbing fittings, urinal, water supply to hospital and office including limited masonry work and supervise the helper plumber within the guidelines of Facilities Management Services strategy and organizational values and guidelines. The specific areas of responsibilities include:

• Installation, Repairing and maintenance of plumbing materials independently;
• Clean and maintenance of water filter at the center and operate water pump motor;
• Operate deep tube-well & all other associate equipment;
• Plan and implement periodical cleaning & maintenance of water drain line, sewerage line of the center.
• Carryout roster duty independently;
• Take part with the CEU team in any plumbing maintenance and installation works in order to ensure smooth plumbing service;
• Create and submit regular maintenance report to the Supervisor containing activities performed in the month;
• Supervise and Coordinate the installation of new equipment by the vendor;
• Receive training from supervisor on how to install and maintain the new equipment, if required.
• Perform minor civil mason works during any repairing job, if required.

Required qualifications and experience:

• S.S.C or Equivalent with Vocational trade course on plumbing;
• Minimum 5 years of working experience in Plumbing works and mason in the related field in multinational/ international organization.

Location: Mohakhali Campus, Dhaka

Contract Type and duration:

• Fixed Term; duration will be 2 Years with a possibility of extension subject to availability of funds and performance.

Salary & benefits:

• Annual 4,30,410/- inclusive of house rent, conveyance allowances and other admissible benefits
• 14.8% provident fund contribution, income tax paid by icddr,b, children allowance @Tk.1,917/- per child per month, festival bonus, contributory healthcare support including dependent spouse and children, group life insurance, and subsidized canteen. Transport and day-care facilities are subject to space availability.
