Duties and Responsibilities

On behalf of the International Civil Service Commission (ICSC), the United Nations Office at Nairobi is coordinating a Place to Place survey in Nairobi in October 2023. The data collected will be used to update the post adjustment index and the expenditure weights used in the calculation of post adjustment for Nairobi. The collection of price data on a specified basket of goods and services will serve as a basis to process this calculation.

The incumbent will work directly for the ICSC and report to the Survey Coordinator.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DELIVERABLES

Under the direct supervision of the Survey Coordinator, the individual contractor will be responsible for the following:

1. Physically collect data on prices from identified outlets in Nairobi. Inform outlet management on the purpose of this collection and receive their authorization.
2. Record the data in the price booklet provided by the ICSC
3. Submit the data to the Survey Coordinator
4. Complete and submit the questionnaire on the general market conditions provided by the ICSC
5. Meet and consult with the Survey Coordinator and the team and/or the ICSC on data collection related matters.

Qualifications/special skills

EVALUATION CRITERIA
Skills : Analytical, writing and communication skills
Computer literacy including use of Microsoft Teams

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
An independent person with NO past or present work experience with any of the organizations of the United Nations Common System (former staff member, retiree, consultant, individual contractor, intern, UNV, etc).

NOT an immediate relative of a UN staff member (child, parent, spouse, etc.).

Academic Qualifications:
High School certificate or equivalent is required. Supplemental training in statistics, economics, project management, auditing, accounting, or finance is desirable.

Experience:
Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in sales and marketing, public relations or related field is desirable.
International shopping experience with knowledge of the local market is desirable.

Language :
Fluency in English and Kiswahili is required.
Knowledge of French or Spanish is desirable
