PIH JOB DESCRIPTION ( Primary Care Lead )
Position Title: Primary Care Lead
Reports to: Director of Clinical Services

Position Overview:
The Primary Care Lead (PCL) will ensure smooth running of the health centers in Maryland county which are Pleebo Health Center (PHC) and Edith Wallace Health Center (EWHC). PCL takes part in the strategic planning and implementation of activities at the Health centers as per MOH guidelines.

The PCL will collaborate with CHT and any other stakeholders in ensuring sound decisions about service redesign and development thus working to transform clinical outcomes and proactively strengthening the health system and capacity building

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Ensures smooth running of the two health centers in collaboration with the OICs and the CHT administrators.
  • Proactively develop relationships with the clinical team both MOH/ PIH and ensure the oneness of both team to deliver services to the community
  • Collaborate with MOH leaders for the strategic planning of Pleebo health Centre and Edith Wallace facilities.
  • Provide direct patient care. Consult with PIH specialists and MOH colleagues when difficult and complicated cases are encountered at Pleebo and Edith Wallace facility.
  • Support any PIH-approved research, quality improvement, and monitoring & evaluation projects occurring at Pleebo and Edith Wallace facility and other PIH department.
  • Identify gaps and organize trainings and provide mentorship/ coaching for MOH / PIH staff,
  • Work with program leads on NCD, TB/HIV, Mental, Maternal health, Nursing Supportive care and Nurse Coordinator on Planning of annual activities for Pleebo and Edith Wallace facility
  • Determine policy gaps for programs and report to the DCS to facilitate the change for better with central MOH.
  • Work in collaboration with Community department in designing and establishment of screening programs that improves Universal coverage.
  • Work with MOH- DHO, Administrator and OIC for both Pleebo and Edith Wallace health Centre.
  • Work with pharmacy, laboratory, and supply chain teams to prevent stock outs of essential medications, laboratory, and medical equipment
  • Techno designer of opportunities to improve patient care and mentorship at Pleebo and Edith Wallace facility.eg. patient certification exits interviews
  • Assist PIH Infrastructure team with the planning of new infrastructure projects
  • Actively supporting TB/HIV lead in Coordinating programs needs To ensure the confidentiality of patient related information and records
  • Plays a key part at relevant groups and committees at District level
  • Any other duties as reasonably requested.
Qualifications:
  • Specialization in Family medicine or mandatory Masters in Public health for PA or General practitioner (mandatory)
  • Documented Background in Evidence based medicine: research, Quality improvement. (Mandatory)
  • Documented background in Project management, and grant writing (a Plus)
  • 5 years of experience in managing a health center (If not a Family Physician)
  • Good communication, social skills and cultural competency.
  • Experience in running TB/HIV program
  • Ability to working in a diverse culture
