Purpose of Job

This role is key in embedding sustainability into the core business strategy and operations of the Bank by driving ESG initiatives, managing stakeholder relationships and aligning sustainability objectives with financial performance.

The role is responsible in implementing and supporting the Corporate Services ESG strategy, policies and framework that align with the Banks values, goals and CNZ targets whilst reporting on the cost effectiveness and feasibility of each ESG proposal.

The incumbent will provide expertise on key issues related to environmental and social impact, assuming an advisory role to the business, consulting on matters relating to the CS strategy, sustainability risks in the design, preparation and implementation of the operations taking into consideration best industry practices and standards.

Accountabilities & Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning for CS ESG goals, ensure targets are aligned to the Banks values and goals.
  • Responsible for data collection, analysis and reporting. Identify relevant metrics and tracking performance ensuring accurate reporting.
  • Assess and mitigate risks associated with ESG factors, including regulator compliance and reputational risks.
  • Conduct thorough ESG assessments and identify key sustainability risks, opportunities and performance indicators.
  • Stay updated on emerging ESG trends, best practices and regulatory developments to drive continuous improvement and innovation.
  • Engage with stakeholders e.g., employees, customers and communities to communicate the Banks sustainability efforts and foster a culture of responsibility and ethical behaviour.
  • Provide consultancy and guidance to the counties of operations on the requitements of identifying and implementing local ESG regulations and monito the compliance.
  • Interact with various stakeholders to align ESG goals and strategies.
  • Champion and role model the Bank’s Behavioural Competencies and Corporate Behaviours, ensuring adherence within the team(s) so that the highest standards of integrity and ethical conduct are always exhibited.

Knowledge, Skills, Experience & Qualifications

  • Ability to develop and implement ESG strategies, policies, and frameworks tailored to the organization’s objectives and industry.
  • Financial acumen to link sustainability initiatives to business value and articulate the financial implications of ESG practices.
  • Strong understanding of the ESG concepts, frameworks, standards and best practices that are relevant to the industry and organisation.
  • Ability to analyse and interpret data, information and trends related to ESG issues.
  • Experience with creating metrics performance framework, measure and evaluate the effectiveness and impact of the ESG initiatives, identify gaps and areas for improvement.
  • Conduct assessments, audits and due diligence, support decisions making and problem solving.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Solutions oriented with trak record of implementing ESG solutions, leverage and integrate ESG technologies and trends.
