About the job  

Based in The Hague, Netherlands, you will join the NATO Communications and Information Agency (NCI Agency) as Principal ICT Technician  within The Command and Control (C2) Centre. C2 are accountable for planning and executing all lifecycle management activities (design, transition and operations) for Joint/Maritime/Land C2 services.  The System Support Engineer will be part of the Engineering Group responsible for the full lifecycle support of the C2 areas of Land, Maritime, Targeting, Special Forces and the Common Operational Picture.

This post is part of the Engineering profession and will primarily be employed in the application service area related to Collective Training and eXercises (CTX). The duty location is The Hague where the main body of the CTX service area is located. Regular interaction with and travel to the NATO training centres in Stavanger, Norway and Bydgoszcz, Poland will be required to support project tasks and exercise events.

About you

We are looking for talented and knowledgeable Principal ICT Technician  who holds Higher vocational training in the area of computer science with 3 years of working experience or a secondary educational qualification with 5 years post-related experience as a system manager of Linux servers including the following areas; 3 years of working experience as a system manager of MS Windows 2012 or above servers; 3 years of working experience as a system manager of Oracle, MS SQLServer or PostGres servers; 3 years of working experience as a system manager of MS IIS servers; 3 years of working experience as a system manager of virtualised servers using VMware; 3 years of working experience as a system manager of source code control servers, preferably MS SourceSafe or GitHub.

Language Proficiency:

A thorough knowledge of one of the two NATO languages, both written and spoken, is essential and some knowledge of the other is desirable;

NOTE:  Most of the work of the NCI Agency is conducted in the English language.

Please note that ALL SELECTED CANDIDATES, with the exception of currently employed NATO International Civilians (NIC’s) will be appointed at the first Increment of the indicated NATO Grade, i.e. NATO Grade X, Increment 1.This is the salary referred to in this vacancy notice. Extra increments can only be considered for candidates from another Co-Ordinated Organisation.

Selected candidates who are not nationals of the host country and who have not been continuously resident in the host country for at least one year may be eligible for an expatriate allowance. For the purposes of determining continuous residence, NATO considers mainly the work location at the time recruitment started, independent of whether various ties were kept with the home country.
