The Economics and Market Research Department (CER) is in the Economics and Private Sector Development Vice Presidency Unit (CED VPU). This new department is a strong hub for the analytical work in support of IFC’s investment and advisory activities and economics research on issues related to private sector development. The department consists of three units:

1.  The Country Diagnostics unit is responsible for conducting sector analysis and delivering the newly upgraded and expanded Country Private Sector Diagnostics (CPSD), coordinating IFC inputs to the Country Climate and Development Reports (CCDR), and conducting bespoke sector analysis at the request of IFC Operations.

2.  The Economic Research unit is responsible for conducting rigorous economic research that results in a series of IFC flagship reports and academic articles, hosting economic research conferences and forums, and creating databases, surveys, and other data assets.

3.  The Macro and Market Risk unit is responsible for conducting country risk assessments, macro scenarios, analysis of market risks, tracking capital flows and capital market developments, creating equity market outlooks, and other macro analysis upon request.

CER is recruiting a Program Assistant to provide administrative support to Macro and Market Risks (CERMR) unit.

Role & Responsibilities :

The Program Assistant will report directly to Manager, CERMR. The duties will include, but will not be limited to the following:

•  Provide full administrative and logistical support, coordinate the schedule of meetings and appointments; ensure effective time management; ensure relevant documents are available for meetings. Coordinate closely with other departments and business units across the WBG as needed.
•  Organize and manage team meetings, arrange Webex, monitor and follow-up on issues and priorities as needed.
•  Manage the teams’ schedule of meetings and appointments, including official functions, travel schedule and arrangements.
•  Provide logistic support to CER Department’s activities and events.
•  Support the team in preparing materials for internal and external distribution, including the compilation of data. 
•  Manage the teams’ PCard and provide administrative support to procurement process in Admin Portal or eConsultant as needed;
•  Ensure that all documents requiring signature are of high quality and adhere to administrative operational guidelines (e.g. memos, reports, Art III, etc.) and that all necessary clearances have been obtained.
•  Demonstrate impeccable standards of integrity when handling confidential material; use tact and sensitivity when resolving delicate issues.
•  Independently respond to internal and external queries using initiative and good judgment.
•  Extract and highlight key issues that need immediate attention, meetings, or areas of focus in correspondence and documents.
•  Backup other assistants in the department.
•  Any other task assigned as relevant to the department.

 

Selection Criteria

 

•  Minimum Education/Experience: Undergraduate degree with 7 years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
•  Ability to retrieve, gather and obtain information from various sources.
•  Demonstrated team spirit, strong desire to work in a team environment, and ability to develop professional networks to improve effectiveness.
•  Excellent interpersonal skills and sound judgement.
•  Strong organizational skills.

•  Good computer skills; proficiency with various software technologies such as MS Office, Outlook, One Drive, and other standard office productivity software. Ability to quickly learn new software applications.
