We are seeking a Program Director for a 2-year-regular position (renewable) to work within the Epidemiology, Public Health, Impact Unit at the International Vaccine Institute in Seoul, Korea. (Duty station: Seoul, Korea)
Job Description

The incumbent of this position is responsible to oversee the direction, management, and operational execution of the research initiatives within the Unit, providing guidance and support to ensure the success of individual projects and their alignment with organizational goals/strategy; functioning as project technical lead, as required; representing the Program to external stakeholders, and to lead the development of long-term programmatic plans consistent with IVI’s strategy.

Key Roles & Responsibilities
1. Lead Program Activities/Operational oversight
  • Develop a vision, strategy, and implementation plan for the EPIC to achieve Unit and Department-level organizational goals.
  • Ensure coordination of activities across projects and identify opportunities to leverage resources; define roles and responsibilities across projects that are necessary to most effectively deliver program goals.
  • Provide guidance to project teams and ensure each project has adequate budget and resources and monitor progress of the projects, identify changes in scope, schedule and cost and adjust accordingly; assist teams in risk management and development of mitigation plans as needed.
  • Together with Lead Project Administrator and Principal Investigators, oversee resources in alignment with Cambridge, and Heidelberg, and the Hong Kong Jockey Club Global Health Institute, jointly with the project administrators.
  • Oversee the design, conduct, and reporting of research studies, jointly with the Deputy Director General and Associate Director General, EPIC and ensure that activities are conducted within timelines.
  • Ensure alignment of activities within EPIC, especially with several projects being executed in the same field sites, and harmonize efforts with external entities and IVI’s new initiatives, Project Management, and Business Development Groups.
2. Develop agenda for future funding to advance program objectives
  • Collaborate with Leadership Team, Project Leads, Project Managers as well as external collaborators to identify funding opportunities, in particular to diversify IVI’s portfolio of funders
  • Lead the writing of compelling and insightful grant proposals which fulfill donor’s needs and IVI’s objectives.
3. Develop and manage external collaborations key partners
  • Develop and maintain alliances and manage key stakeholders with a long-term impact on the success of the program.
  • Coordinate the follow-up of activities initiated by the DDG EPIC, including development beyond individual projects.
  • Identify new key stakeholders who will advocate for the Program and enhance the probability of success
  • Integrate a business development approach into the program to expand the scope of activities and partnerships.
  • Ensure coordination with donors, partners, contractors, and local, national, and regional authorities to align research activities with public health priorities.
4. Project Technical Lead for EPIC studies
  • Be technical lead on one or more projects within the program fulfilling the roles and responsibilities as outlined in the project charter.
