POSITION TITLE: Program Officer – Communications & Awareness

LOCATION: Dhaka, Bangladesh

STATUS: Full Time REPORTS TO: Senior Manager – Social Protection

POSITION SUMMARY: The Program Office for Communications & Awareness is responsible for facilitating and upholding internal communications within the Ashshash project.

The position will be responsible to maintain effective communication channels with project collaborators, sub-partners, and service providers. They provide support in executing communication activities and play a crucial role in maintaining project documentation to contribute to the overarching goal of the Ashshash project. The ‘Ashshash – For Men and Women Who Have Escaped Trafficking, Phase II’ is a four-year program supported by the Embassy of Switzerland in Bangladesh and implemented by Winrock International.

Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Development of appropriate messages, approaches, and materials for awareness advocacy campaigns, and other key Trafficking in Persons (TIP) activities at national and sub-national levels

• Plan and Develop a Communication Strategy for the program

• Liaise with media to generate reports, public awareness, and media coverage on counter-trafficking issues and the program

• Preparation, content development, coordination of production, and dissemination of public information materials like press releases, publications, articles, and sharing of project knowledge and successes.

• Liaise with the mass media and deliver a communication strategy using key channels and messages to engage these audiences in respect to the Project’s outcomes and objectives as well as reporting on its activities

• Ensure compliance of project communication of activities by following donor and Winrock’s guidelines

• Assist in implementing training, workshops, and events of the project across different components

• Support sub-partner’s awareness-raising, events, information dissemination workshops, and maintain the minutes of each meeting and program.

• Document case studies of survivors in coordination with other components of the program • Support to translate the document, and module as per the need of the components

• Collect different Behavior Change Communication (BCC) materials from different projects and fix it for Ashshash awareness activities in coordination with Component Manager

• Develop success stories, event briefs, photo stories, and other promotional materials that communicate the organization’s activities, and/or services. • Liaise with Winrock’s Home Office Communications team to provide up-to-date information on Ashshash activities and address all communication requirements for the project.

• Maintain documentation management system (hard copy and on network)

• Support editing semiannual and annual reports, design cover page and assist in the layout of the inner pages • Other duties as assigned Requirements:

• Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in communications, international development, behavioral economics, or a related field • Minimum of 5 years of professional expertise in communications or public relations in development organizations or.

• Experience implementing international projects to the highest ethical standards

• Relevant and significant experience in training, designing, and implementing capacity-building plans in communications research and development communications; targeting a wide range of stakeholders such as local NGOs, media practitioners, and youth groups.

• Experience writing media releases, reports, awareness materials for social protection, and other relevant interventions, in both Bangla and English.

• Professional expertise in developing communications plans, materials, and methods, including monitoring the impact of these on target audiences.

• Excellent written and oral communication skills in English and Bangla required;

• Technical experience in human trafficking and related social protection themes, specifically contextualized in South Asia preferred;

• Experience in supporting the implementation of gender and social dimension intervention and gender mainstreaming in projects is a plus.

• Excellent networking skills and proven experience in enlisting media practitioners and other key stakeholders in planning and executing major events and campaigns

• Proven track record utilizing appropriate traditional and social media to achieve objectives • Proven ability to think creatively and be innovative

• Advanced computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, Editor, Movie Maker, Powerpoint, and desktop publishing/graphic software such as Adobe In-design, Page Maker, and Microsoft Publisher. Other: Bangladeshi citizenship or residency with work authorization

SALARY: The annual salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Excellent benefits are offered.
