The Women’s Economic Empowerment (WEE) Unit at UN Women India leads and implements programs that enhance women’s access to education, skills, employment, and entrepreneurship opportunities. A key focus of the Unit is to strengthen financial inclusion by improving credit access for women entrepreneurs, particularly in rural areas, and facilitating partnerships with financial institutions and implementing partners to scale impact. The Unit works closely with government agencies, private sector partners, and civil society organizations to integrate gender-responsive approaches into economic policies and programs. Core priorities include designing and managing large-scale initiatives such as skilling and employment programs, fostering private sector engagement through the Women’s Empowerment Principles (WEPs), and supporting gender-responsive entrepreneurship ecosystems. Additionally, the Unit plays a key role in evidence generation, knowledge management, and policy advocacy, ensuring that interventions are informed by data and best practices. This position will directly contribute to these priorities by leading program implementation, strengthening partnerships, and driving knowledge-sharing efforts to enhance the effectiveness and scale of UN Women’s WEE initiatives.
The position sits within the Women’s Economic Empowerment Unit at UN Women India Country Office. The incumbent will be responsible for leading specific programs, overseeing technical inputs, and managing knowledge products that support evidence-based policymaking and advocacy. The role requires close collaboration with government ministries, UN agencies, donor partners, and private sector stakeholders to integrate gender considerations into economic policies and programs. Internally, the position will work across teams, including research, communications, and monitoring and evaluation, to ensure alignment with broader organizational goals. The incumbent will also engage with external partners to facilitate multi-stakeholder dialogues, promote best practices, and support the scaling of impactful models for women’s economic empowerment.
Reporting to Country Programme Manager, WEE, the Programme Analyst contributes to the effective management of UN Women programmes in the India Country Office by providing substantive inputs to programme design, formulation, implementation and evaluation. The Programme Analyst guides and facilitates the delivery of UN Women programmes by monitoring results achieved during implementation and ensuring appropriate application of systems and procedures and develops enhancements if necessary. The Programme Analyst works in close collaboration with the programme and operations team, UN Women HQ personnel, Government officials, multi and bi-lateral donors and civil society ensuring successful UN Women programme implementation under portfolio.
