This position is located within the Global eLearning Programme, Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice Section (CPCJS), Division for Treaty Affairs (DTA), United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC). Responsibilities
Within limits of assigned authority, the Programme Assistant will be responsible for the following specific tasks:
• Provide assistance in support of planning and implementation activities/processes for the Global eLearning programme (project GLOU61).
• Research, compile, analyse, summarize, and present basic information/data on specific programmes/project and related topics.
• Assist in the coordination of programme/project planning and preparation; monitor status of programme/project proposals; take necessary action to ensure project documents are completed and submitted to relevant parties for approval.
• Assist in the preparation and analysis of programme/project budget proposals; provide assistance in the interpretation of budget guidelines; review and coordinate submissions of programme proposals and budget estimates, ensuring that requisite information is included and justified in terms of proposed activities; propose adjustments as necessary; prepare reports and ensures that outputs/services are properly categorized.
• Assist in the monitoring and evaluation of programmes/projects; categorize, update, tracks and analyse data related to programmes/projects, e.g. accounting records, outputs, resources utilized, deviations/revisions, etc.; carries out periodic status review, identify issues and initiate requisite follow-up actions; prepare revised budget estimates; report on budget revisions, expenditures and obligations, verify availability of funds; ensure necessary approval and entry in computerized budget system; initiate financial authorizations for expenditures.
• Provide support in planning, coordination and tracking of service deliveries, as well as tracking of expenditure and revenues related to service deliveries.
• Assist in the recruitment process and monitoring of contracts for long- and short-term staff, as well as technical assistance personnel, as required for effective project/programme implementation.
• Assist with the collection and analysis of data as well as preparation of data presentations and reports for information sharing, responding to queries, knowledge management, planning and decision making.
• Assist with visualizations and updating information material such as web pages or brochures.
• Perform other work-related tasks as assigned.

Education
High school diploma or equivalent.
Work Experience
A minimum of seven years of experience in programme or project administration, technical cooperation or related area is required. The minimum years of relevant experience is reduced to five for candidates who possess a first-level university degree or higher.
Work experience with an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system is required
Work experience with SAP/Umoja is desirable
Work experience with the planning coordination and tracking of service deliveries, such as service orders and sales orders is desirable.
Work experience with the United Nations system or another International organization is desirable.
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the position advertised, fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official United Nations language is an advantage.
Assessment
Evaluation of qualified candidates may include an assessment exercise and a competency-based interview.
Special Notice
This is a project post. Filling of this position is subject to funding availability and the initial appointment will be for a period of one year. Extension of the appointment is subject to extension of the mandate and/or the availability of the funds.
