WHY JOIN WFP?
Implementing Climate Risk Insurance (CRI) in coordination with Cox’s Bazar Area Office Resilience Team and Government stakeholders.
Within the framework of WFP’s Resilience, under the overall guidance of the Lead of Host Community Activities, Cox’s Resilience Programme, direct supervision of the Programme Policy Officer (Resilience), and technical supervision from the CO CRI Lead, the incumbent will support implementing climate risk insurance in Cox’s Bazar.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (NOT ALL-INCLUSIVE)
More specifically, the incumbent will:
• Organize the implementation of climate risk insurance and livelihood interventions related to CRI
• Establish partnerships with local institutions and civil society organizations to plan and implement a climate risk insurance Program
• Support to conduct research and studies on different CRI issues and share with the Area office and CO to communicate with policymakers and a broader audience
• Support the development of capacities for insurance design and implementation.
• Support with testing and the scaling up of alternative insurance distribution channels
• Support the capacity enhancement of the Resilience Cox’s team and Cooperating Partner’s staff on climate risk insurance
• Contribute to preparing project budgets, donor reports, quarterly reports, case studies, blogs, and publications.
• Maintain professional relationships with the cooperating partners, technical partners, and other stakeholders.
• Support developing training materials, guidelines, Standard Operating Procedures, and other technical documents.
Requirements:
Education: Completion of University degree (Bachelor) in Social Science or Public Finance, Insurance, or any relevant discipline.
Experience: Total Six (06) years of working experience in the development sector in activities that involved insurance intervention as risk transfer and resilience building. Specific knowledge of disaster, agricultural, and climate insurance initiatives at both micro, meso, and macro levels is highly desirable or other related field.
Language: Fluency (level C) in English language & native speaker of Bangla.
