Duties and Responsibilities
The internship is located in the Office of the Secretariat of the UN Secretary-General’s Special Envoy for Road Safety (Special Envoy), and at United Nations Road Safety Fund (UNRSF), United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) in Geneva. Under the supervision of the Head of Secretariat of the Special Envoy and the Head of UNRSF, the incumbent is expected to contribute to the work of the Secretariat as follows: • Undertake research to support identification of potential partners and to inform activities of the Special Envoy; • Draft articles, briefing notes and other outreach communications to help raise visibility of the global road safety crisis; • Undertake research on initiatives that illustrate the nexus between road safety and other SDGs; • Support the events and activities planned for the Special Envoy; Undertakes research, draft statements and prepare for and/or participate in meetings that relates to the UN Road Safety Fund • Perform other duties as requested.
Qualifications/special skills
To qualify for the United Nations Internship Programme, the following conditions must be met: – Applicants to the United Nations internship programme must at the time of application meet one of the following requirements: (a) Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor’s level or equivalent); Be computer literate in standard software applications; Be computer literate in standard software applications; have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter; Applicants for all countries are accepted and under-represented or un-represented countries in the UN are encouraged to apply. No working experience is required to apply for the United Nations Internship Programme. Your training, education, advance course work or skills should benefit the United Nations during your internship.
Languages
Fluency in English (both oral and written) is required. English native speaker is preferred.

Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions. Interns who are not citizens or permanent residents of the country where the internship is undertaken, may be required to obtain the appropriate visa and work/employment authorization.
