Duties and Responsibilities
This internship is located within the Office of the Chief of Staff in the United Nations Mission in Kosovo. The incumbent will report directly to the Political Affairs/Planning Officer within the Office of the Chief of Staff The objective of this internship is to directly contribute to discharging the responsibilities of the Office of the Chief of Staff among which include – 1. Effective functioning of mission-wide integrated procedures and systems for information analysis and management. 2. Enhance mission strategic and operational planning. The Comprehensive Planning and Performance Assessment System (CPAS) is a tool which was developed in response to requests from missions, member states and headquarters to have a data-based system for better understanding the impact of peacekeeping missions and using data to inform integrated planning and Performance Assessments. CPAS helps missions to develop a whole-of-mission plan, collectively assess the mission’s performance and impact, and regularly revise and update their operations. The focus of this internship will be on assisting with the implementation of the Mission’s CPAS which will generally involve assisting with monitoring the implementation of the Results Framework and recommendations. The intern will also contribute towards other areas of work including strengthening the link between the Mission’s programmatic activities and CPAS, and other data collection tasks. Contribution towards the implementation of the Comprehensive Planning and Performance Assessment System (CPAS) 1. Monitor the implementation of CPAS Recommendations from CPAS Impact Assessments by liaising with relevant sections and reviewing relevant internal reports. 2. Produce a weekly update on the status of implementation of CPAS Recommendations for possible inclusion in the CPAS IT Platform. 3. Assist with monitoring the implementation of CPAS Impact and Outcome Indicators. Contribution towards strengthening the link between the Mission’s programmatic activities (PAs) and CPAS. 1. Work with relevant offices with the goal of assisting with the collection and disaggregation of pertinent data from the Mission’s programmatic activities such as statistics on the number of communities/women/youth/municipalities which benefitted/participated in specific projects, including for developing a monthly Power BI to display such statistics.
Qualifications/special skills
Applicants must be a student in the final year of the first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), Master;s or PhD Programme or equivalent, or have completed a Bachelor’s, Masters or PhD Programme. Good knowledge of standard software applications, specifically MS Excel and Powerpoint is desirable
