Under the supervision and guidance of the Head of the CREWS Secretariat (CREWS), the incumbent will perform the following duties:

(a) Coordinates activities related to CREWS funding with its Implementing Partners (programme/project preparation and submissions, progress reports, financial statements, etc.) and prepares related documents/reports (pledging, work programme, programme budget);

(b) Monitors and analyzes programme/project development and implementation; reviews relevant documents and reports; identifies problems and issues to be addressed and initiates corrective actions; liaises with relevant parties; ensures follow-up actions;

(c) Oversee regular reporting by partners on progress and impacts of CREWS operations;

(d) Researches, analyzes, and presents information gathered from diverse sources. Manages the gathering of data and M&E systems, the production of performance reports and annual reports;

(e) Oversees the development of Operational Procedures that guide CREWS operation;

(f) Coordinates related policy development to guide CREWS operations, including the review and analysis of issues and trends, preparation of evaluations or other research activities and studies;

(g) Organizes and prepares written outputs, e.g. draft background papers, analysis, sections of reports and studies, inputs to publications;

(h) Provides substantive backstopping to the CREWS Steering Committee and other meetings, conferences, networks of experts and partners etc., to include proposing agenda topics, identifying participants, preparation of documents and presentations, etc;

(i) Initiates and coordinates outreach activities; conducts training workshops, seminars; makes presentations on assigned topics/activities;

(j) Manage small team and contributes to staff appraisals;

(k) Carry out other relevant duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education
Master’s degree or equivalent in international development, environmental sciences, disaster risk management, economics, or a related field. A first-level university degree in combination with qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
Experience
A minimum of seven years of progressively responsible experience in project or programme management, disaster risk management, disaster resilience or related area. Understanding of and experience in of climate change and disaster risk reduction desirable. Familiarity with early warning systems and information systems also desirable.
Other requirements
Establish and maintain relationships with counterparts, UN Officers and Technical staff in relevant Secretariat units and in UN Funds, Programs and other UN Specialized Agencies; Representatives and Officials in National Governments, International Organizations, Consultants. Ability to work in a multicultural environment and to foster diversity and team spirit.
Languages
Excellent knowledge of English (both oral and written). Knowledge of other official languages of the Organization would be an advantage.

(Note: The official languages of the Organization are Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish.)

The Secretary-General may appoint a candidate at a grade below the advertised grade of the post, with the possibility of promotion to that grade within three years of appointment, subject to satisfactory appraisal of performance.Possibility of renewal subject to the availability of funds and pending satisfactory performance after an initial probationary period of one year which can be extended up to a maximum of two years.

SALARY AND ALLOWANCES
Annual net base salary on initial appointment is: US$ 77326
Annual post adjustment on initial salary is: US$ 63639 (in addition to the net base salary)
