The Urban Health Coverage under the Health System and Population Studies Division focuses on the Model in Bangladesh that will develop a dynamic, strategic, and fresh approach to improve Bangladesh’s urban health system. The solutions will be aimed at creating an environment aligned with the universal health coverage (UHC) vision and focused on defined priority areas – the increased Urban Health Coverage Model in Bangladesh.

Position Descriptions:

The Programmer will report to the Scientist and will be responsible for developing software applications and performing development work such as coding, testing, debugging, updating and maintaining software applications, writing database scripts and providing software support to the UHC project staff under the technical supervision of Information Technology department. S/he will be involved in–

• Demonstrate a track record of completing 3-5 successful web-based software development projects as a PHP and Laravel/CodeIgniter coder/programmer, coupled with proficiency in a popular JavaScript framework.
• Develop robust, user-friendly, and secure web applications for efficient data exchange between servers and clients;
• Collect feedback from users on existing programs for any changes required and make necessary changes;
• Update application according to the requirements;
• Share data with researcher according to their needs;
• Prepare detailed technical documents in order to utilize those software as needed;
• Coordinate with IT for the development works;
• Provide continuous support for user queries on the field;
• Provide required technical training to ensure smooth operation and continual improvement for the end-users;
• Setup test environment and conduct trial tests to check for the robustness of the program and check for accuracy;
• Check data inconsistency according to the requirements and logic;
• Prepare report highlighting the errors and correct the errors found in order to launch an error-free system/solution effectively.
• Train people on data collection; supervise data collection; and monitor the data quality.

Required qualifications and experience:

• BSc in Computer Science and Engineering/Information and Communications Engineering or any other relevant subject from a reputed university. Master’s degree in Computer Science/Computer Engineering/MIS from a reputed university would get preference.
• At least 3 years of professional experience in web-based application development, focusing on PHP Laravel Framework and MS SQL Server.
• Familiarity with Core PHP, CodeIgniter framework and MySQL Database will be advantageous.
• Clear understanding of software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), Testing, and Version Control, adhering to industry’s best practices.

Location: Dhaka

Contract Type and Duration:

• Short Term Contractual Service Agreement basis; duration will be 5 months with a possibility of extension subject to availability of funds and performance.

Salary & benefits:

• Tk 75,780/-per month (consolidated) inclusive of house rent and conveyance allowances;
• Festival bonus, income tax paid by icddr,b and subsidized canteen; Transport and daycare facilities are subject to space availability.
