Introduction
The mission of the Green Climate Fund is to assist developing countries to respond to climate change while bringing prosperity to their people.
Established in 2010, the GCF invests in transformational climate projects in the developing world. The Fund makes an ambitious contribution to global climate action and channels significant financial resources into developing countries to help build low-emission and climate-resilient societies. It is country-driven and undertakes actions that reflect the circumstances of each country concerned and its national aspirations. The GCF is a key enabler of the 2015 Paris Agreement on Climate Change.
Since its establishment, the GCF has approved 216 projects in 129 countries and has committed USD 12.0 billion in climate finance. In addition, it has built up an extensive program to support developing countries to identify their needs, in particular, those who are most vulnerable to climate change impacts.

Background
The Division of Mitigation and Adaptation (DMA) provides technical expertise across all eight mitigation and adaptation results areas for both public and private sector CNs and funding proposals. The Division also leads the preparation and review of public sector Concept Notes and Funding Proposals. It assists Nationally Designated Authorities (NDAs) and Accredited Entities (AEs) in the origination, development and structuring of projects and plays a critical role in finalizing the Funded Activity Agreements (FAAs) following project approval to enable projects to start implementation. In addition, DMA is responsible for managing the GCF REDD-plus results-based payments pilot programme and the Enhancing Direct Access (EDA) Pilot Programme. DMA provides the interdivisional management of the Simplified Approval Process (SAP) and the Project Preparation Facility (PPF), including the administration of their roster of international firms. Finally, it carries out technical reviews of draft country and entity work programmes.
Position Objective
The Programming Officer supports DMA with a range of programming-related operational and analytical tasks necessary for the ongoing operationalization of the Fund. The Programming Officer supports organizational matters such as Board publication of funding proposals and act as the focal person for the public sector Board related matters including document preparation for publication and disclosure, coordination with the Office of Governance Affairs (OGA) in coordination with DMA’s pipeline management specialist. The Programming Officer supports analytical work, carrying out quantitative and qualitative analyses of the public sector funding proposal review process and Board publication. The Programming Officer leads the efficient operationalization of the division, managing the roster of DMA consultants, while supporting the design and implementation of the institutional annual workplans.
