Under the general supervision of the Economics Training Management (ETM) Section Chief, Operations Management Division (OM), the incumbent performs a variety of technical, administrative, and operational support involving training/capacity building activities. The incumbent will be expected to perform duties related to training programs conducted online, at headquarters (HQ) in Washington, D.C., at overseas regional training centers (RTCs) and a variety of courses and seminars in the Internal Economics Training (IET) program, using the automated Participant and Applicant Tracking System (PATS), Workday learning, Audio and/or video conferencing software, Teams, Webex, Share Point, C-Vent, Moodle, and other software applications. Will help to identify agile and innovative approaches to optimize processes for internal and external stakeholders and handle sensitive materials discreetly, in line with the Fund’s access to information policy.

Main duties and responsibilities to include: working with PATS (a PeopleSoft database), registering electronic course applications; reviewing data for accuracy and completeness; generating a variety of data reports and then working with that data in MS Excel and PATS, and screening applicants for eligibility; matching participant records, uploading their grades from online courses (OL) into the database and changing their statuses accordingly; Liaising with staff at the RTCs to facilitate coordination and execution of assignments, and ensuring the efficient flow of information and communication; Working with Workday Learning; contacting guest speakers to obtain materials and coordinating event logistics; researching background information and locating existing papers on the Internet or libraries. Contributing to design and implementation of new IT project for training events, seminars, and conferences.

Coordinating and implementing induction and administrative arrangements for HQ courses including travel, visa, accommodation, and per diem reimbursements. IT and administrative presentations to course participants. Managing training facilities and IT (i.e., laptops, software requirements, smartboards, polling devices, etc.). Handling participant issues while at HQ (e.g., medical, absences, travel/visa). Assist in the development and maintenance of program-related resources, such as manuals and guidelines. Coordinate communication between internal and external stakeholders, ensuring timely and accurate information flow.

Managing OL course administration, including registering applicants, enrolling participants on edX, uploading participants’ grades into the database, and responding to technical and policy related questions.

Liaising closely with colleagues within the Operations Management Division, Institute Training Program Division, as well as ICD’s economic training divisions, other IMF departments, and external clients to ensure successful delivery of ICD training programs.

Strong project management and technological skills, experience in problem-solving, identifying and analyzing challenges and implementing creative and innovative solutions to address them are preferred. Proficiency in information technology and knowledge of SharePoint and Learning Management Systems a must. Solid understanding of knowledge management principles and practices, enabling effective organization, storage, and dissemination of information within the departments, a plus.

Minimum qualifications

Educational development, typically acquired by the completion of a university degree in liberal arts, languages, business administration, information systems, economics, international relations, or a related field, is required. Alternatively, a minimum of two years of experience in a related position at Grade A5, or equivalent, is required.

Strong interpersonal and client-oriented skills with proven ability to deal with others tactfully and in a professional manner. Other essential skills are a demonstrated ability to establish priorities, multitask effectively, and work under pressure to meet deadlines; good problem-solving skills; attention to details, ability to work both independently and as part of a team, knowledge of data management fundamentals.

French, Spanish, or Arabic language skills, are a plus.

This vacancy shall be filled by a 3-year Term appointment in accordance with the Fund’s new employment rules that took effect on May 1, 2015.

A regular staff member who is selected to fill the vacancy will maintain their open-ended status. If the selected candidate is a contractual employee, they will be offered a Term staff appointment. Staff members already on a term appointment will continue their current term but may receive an extension provided that their current term appointment has not already been extended.
