JOB DETAIL

Overall purpose of the role: (1-2 sentences)

Responsible for overall implementation of Food security and child sensitive social protection implementation activities.

Responsibilities: (in bullet points)

  • Responsible for assisting and supporting Food security & child sensitive social protection implementation activities and interventions for DRC Mogadishu.
  • Promote adherence to the guiding principles of Protection among community focal points, other community-based actors and service providers for safe and ethical referral of cases and ensuring self-determination of the UASC and other child protection cases;
  • Implement Case management process with its steps including identification, case implementations, follow up and case closure with respect of survival centered approaches, guiding principles
  • Create a climate of trust and care to the beneficiaries and survivors all level.
  • Maintain daily contact with community structures and project beneficiaries to ensure the correct procedures and principles are adhered to.
  • Ensure the provision of comprehensive information on services available to the client, maintain Coordination with service provider focal points, and ensure accompaniment and referral to service adhering to referral SOPs and “need to know” principle.
  • Prepare, plan and conduct community awareness raising on Protection, GBV and education.
  • Facilitate the setup of community-based mechanism and referral system to respond to persons with protection issues and educational needs.
  • Identify vulnerable cases (individuals and families) following the program and selection criteria.
  • Participate in the overall implementation, coordination and LA and community engagement, beneficiary mobilization and selection of economic recovery activities, CSSP in the intervention areas.
  • Conduct mapping services with the district health management team in the Jalalaqsi district to establish and strengthen referral pathways.
  • Work closely with the health ministry staff and local authorities to map out all the health and nutrition centers within the district to identify the level of service available to target communities.
  • Collaborate with service providers and local authorities to create referral pathways for pregnant and lactating women and to develop clear strategies and guidelines for implementation
  • Facilitate liaison with community-based organizations and coordinate with community leaders in identifying target groups for DRC CSSP activities in health centers and MCHs.
  • Regularly monitor and evaluate the performance of the project and provide timely inputs, feedback and impact of the DRC FSL interventions to the project manager
  • Play an important role in realization of project outputs and outcomes through the timely implementation of activities in a well-planned, organized and coordinated manner.
  • Ensure equal participation by all segments of the community, taking into consideration issues regarding gender, age and clan affiliation
  • Support the teams in conducting assessments and carrying out monitoring and evaluation exercises
  • Together with your supervisor, participate gathering basic information about the community/cluster of health centers which will help easy implementation of the planned activities
  • Responsible for the implementation of child sensitive social protection and provide technical support to MOLSA USR team at the field level and advice on social protection activities.
  • Lead on the implementation of basic tasks within sector area, including mapping of health centers, beneficiary identification, referrals of PLWs, issuance of project sim cards, consent forms and other project-specifics implementations
  • Guiding community-based committee and Community Project Implementation unit and on the adherence to the project policies and procedures.
  • Ensure that DRC’s objectives and approaches are well disseminated to raise awareness amongst beneficiaries ensuring all project procedures and policies on project implementation are followed.
  • Provide advice, backstopping, conduct and facilitate training on through appropriate methodology.
  • Responsible community empowering to enable them to manage their issues by themselves and be able to sustain projects
  • Assist and facilitate the needs assessment survey of IDP’s and urban poor areas in collaboration with others Staff, INGO’s and or government.

Programming:

  • Participate in carrying out participatory needs’ assessment within the target population in DRC area of intervention.
  • With the support of the project manager and Officer, develop activities plans, including assessment and distribution plans.
  • In liaison with sector heads set criteria of eligibility for beneficiaries. Select and record through filing system beneficiaries’ profiles and support.
  • Planning activities (quarterly plan/objectives; monthly plan and weekly movement planning) as to focus the expected results.
  • Ensure quality programming through capacity building and training.
  • Analyze and propose solutions/improvements or new directions for the smooth running of the current and future programs.
  • Participate in follow-up, monitoring and evaluation exercises as scheduled or otherwise.
  • Responsible for managing risk associated with cash-related implementation program activities.

Logistic and Administration

  • Responsible for organizing the necessary logistic (transport, accommodation, meals, etc.
  • Submit weekly movement plans to the project manager.
  • Follow up on order requests and give suggestions to the Project manager for validation.

Reporting and communication

  • Identify and inform the project manager of any problems or constraints.
  • Represent the organization in meeting with beneficiaries.
  • Promote systematically DRC mandate and humanitarian principles to other stakeholders/partner agencies at all times.
  • Develop weekly activity and movement planning and submit to area manager and logistic officer.
  • Develop monthly work plan /activities/objectives and submit to Project manager.

Experience and technical competencies: (include years of experience)

  • 2-3 years of experience within the field of economic & Livelihoods, social protection, community mobilization and others.
  • Strong understanding of basic training in economic & Livelihood programming, participatory training methods, community mobilizations and networking
  • Effective and timely implementation of all interventions outlined under output and any other related and cross cutting program activities related to Livelihoods and economic recovery
  • Working experience and knowledge of the local duty station
  • Able to adapt to changing situations as required.
  • Able to work well under pressure and in adverse condition

Education: (include certificates, licenses etc.)

  • Degree in developmental studies, social science, public admin, international relations, Business administration or any other relevant degree
  • Computer literacy and statistical data management
  • Languages: Good command of English and Somali – spoken and written

Conditions

Contract: 12 months with the possibility of extension, subject to funding and performance. Salary and other conditions are offered by DRC’s Terms of Employment for National Staff; Employment band None Management I2.

Duty station: This position is based in Jalalaqsi
