Context
Within the objective to facilitate pathways for regular migration IOM is enhancing technical assistance to private sector and government-led skills mobility initiatives that connect migrants to decent work opportunities. At the same time IOM advocates for the integration of migrants and migration across development planning and prepares migrants for safe, legal and successful migration prior to leaving their country of origin.
Under the overall supervision of the Chief of Mission (CoM) in Austria and direct supervision of the Head of Integration/Labour Mobility and Social Inclusion Unit; and, in collaboration with relevant units at IOM Egypt, the successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the implementation all activities related to the project “EAGLE– A Skills Mobility Partnership Between Austria and Egypt”. The main objective of the project is to create of a mutually beneficial talent development and mobility partnership between Egypt and Austria. This is to be achieved through (1) Developing and delivering a training curriculum in Egypt with the aim to strengthen skills development in a metal processing occupation, for both the local and international labour market; (2) Piloting a scalable mobility scheme between Egypt and Austria; (3) Enhance effective integration measures for skilled migrants in Austria. The project is funded under the Migration Partnership Facility (MPF) and implemented in close cooperation with the Austrian Federal Chancellery. The project is scheduled to be launched by February 2025 and will last until June 2027 with the vacant position to be filled by 1 February 2025.

- Assist in the implementation and monitoring of project activities.
- Retrieve, compile, summarize, and present information/data on specific project topics.
- Monitor budget; verify availability of funds; obtain necessary approval and update budget related information.
- Support administrative coordination of project implementation, involving liaison with diverse organizational units and external parties to initiate requests, obtain necessary clearances, process and follow-up on administrative actions, etc.
- Draft status reports, identifying shortfalls in delivery and bringing them to the attention of the supervisor.
- Draft correspondence, reports, briefing notes, graphics, statistical tables, presentations and other forms of documentation.
- Organize meetings, workshops and training sessions.
- Respond to general information requests and inquiries; set up and maintain files/records.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Education
- School diploma with four years of relevant experience; or
- Bachelor’s degree in Political or Social Sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Human Rights, Law or related fields from an accredited academic institution with two years of relevant professional experience.
Experience
- Experience in the field of labour migration, education and training, public-private partnerships, and/or integration of migrants are an asset;
- Experience in liaising with governmental authorities, national/international institutions, United Nations agencies and non-governmental organizations is an asset; and
- Prior work experience with international humanitarian organizations, non-government or government institutions/organization in a multi-cultural setting is an advantage.
Skills
- Proven project management skills are an asset (e.g. monitoring, reporting, financial controlling);
- Moderation and presentation skills, including in a digital setting, are an asset;
- Research and publication skills are an asset;
- Knowledge of the Austrian, Egyptian, and/or European migration landscapes, policies, institutions and stakeholders is an asset;
Languages
- Fluency in German and English is required (oral and written)
- Working knowledge of Arabic is desired
