The ultimate result of the service is to help ETC facilitate the creation and execution of a regional training program on green technologies and entrepreneurship, and to participate in the coordination of the Arab SMEs Summit – Riyadh 2024, including its associated activities before and after the event.

Duties and Responsibilities
The ESCWA Technology Centre (ETC) is seeking an Individual Contractor (IC) to assist in and coordinate a wide array of tasks for its projects focused on green technologies and entrepreneurship. This role is pivotal in aiding the effective implementation of project initiatives, including a significant regional training initiative on green technologies and business models. The IC will offer substantial support in the planning, development, and execution of these project activities, alongside key events such as the Arab SMEs Summit. The IC will work under the supervision of the Executive Director of The ESCWA Technology Centre (ETC). In particular, the Project Coordinator will be tasked to do the following: • Assist with the development and implementation of a regional training program on green technologies and business models, facilitating the creation of an integrated toolbox filled with training materials and resources on green business strategies. • Support the establishment of a comprehensive self-training system on the DEPAR platform, aiding in the transformation of materials into interactive content and the development of dynamic maps to showcase support networks. • Provide assistance in organizing and facilitating capacity-building efforts focused on green technologies and business models, including the organization of workshops and virtual guidance sessions. • Offer critical support during both the preparatory and operational phases of the Arab SMEs Summit to ensure its successful execution. • Assist actively in the coordination and documentation of meetings, capturing insights and necessary follow-ups to guide project directions. • Help create statistical charts, diagrams, and presentations to facilitate the dissemination of project-related information. • Aid in the preparation of agendas, informational briefs, and background materials for ETC meetings and events. • Support the handling of routine communications with stakeholders and assist in drafting responses to correspondences in English and Arabic. • Performs other related tasks and duties as assigned. The individual contractor will also assist in various administrative services through coordination and support of consultation meetings on the above subject.
Qualifications/special skills
A bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Business Management, Project Management, Human Resources, Information Technology, Event Management, Public Administration, or any similar fields is required. All candidates must submit a copy of the required educational degree. Incomplete applications will not be reviewed. A minimum of 3 years of experience in event management support is required.
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat; and Arabic is a working language of ESCWA. For this position, fluency in Arabic and English are required. Note: “Fluency” equals a rating of ‘fluent’ in all four areas (speak, read, write, and understand) and “Knowledge of” equals a rating of ‘confident’ in two of the four areas.
