POSITION SUMMARY

Based in Kathmandu, the Project Development Associate will support the development of the GGGI Nepal Country Program by identifying resource mobilization opportunities, coordinating liaison with appropriate stakeholders, developing concept notes for resource mobilization (RM), and supporting implementation.

Reporting to the GGGI Nepal Country Representative (CR), the Project Development Associate will work closely with the Nepal Program Lead and Project Managers (PMs), as well as the Asia Regional Office (ROA) and other GGGI units as appropriate.

PURPOSE
  • Ensure an effective process of resource mobilization for the Nepal Country Program, adhering to GGGI’s Project Cycle Management (PCM) processes.
  • Enable the development of projects in alignment with the priorities of the Government of Nepal (GoN), GGGI’s Global Operational Priorities (GOPs) as specified by GGGI’s Strategy 2030, the Nepal Country Planning Framework (CPF) 2022-2026, and resource partners.
  • Support the development of a pipeline of projects to ensure continuity of GGGI’s activities in Nepal in 2026 and beyond.
ENGAGEMENT
  • Work closely with the Nepal CR, Program Lead, PMs, ROA and other GGGI units to identify, develop and progress ideas, concept notes, and proposals for submission to donors.
  • Coordinate among GGGI’s thematic experts to ensure timely inputs of quality.
  • Coordinate with GoN, donors and development partner counterparts to understand priorities, ensuring alignment of project proposal objectives and gaining buy-in.
  • Support other GGGI Nepal staff as requested and appropriate.
DELIVERY
  • Support the continued implementation of NP018 ‘Promotion of Non-fired Bricks Production and Utilization in Nepal’ and the subsequent development of concept notes for RM.
  • Prepare idea notes, concept notes, and full funding proposals related to existing GGGI Nepal projects and new areas of potential work to support RM.
  • Keep track of existing and new projects under implementation by other entities in Nepal to avoid duplication and maximize complementarity.
  • Keep track of donor priorities, funding opportunities and calls for proposals to maximize the opportunity for GGGI Nepal to engage in RM.
  • Prepare emails, PowerPoint presentations, and other documentation to support engagement internally and externally.
  • Stay abreast of updates to PCM guidance and procedures and ensure that this is shared with the team.
  • Stay abreast of donor requirements and ensure compliance during the concept notes and funding proposal development process.
  • Develop workplans, timelines, roles and responsibilities matrices, and other relevant documentation to ensure that new proposals are developed on time and are of sufficient quality.
  • Support the development of Terms of References (ToRs) to appropriately staff successful project proposals.
REQUIREMENTS
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s degree in economics, sustainable development, international relations, engineering, or any discipline related to the assignment.
  • Preferred 3-5 years of professional experience in the above fields.
  • Working experience with international organizations would be an asset.
  • Fluency in English is required, fluency or a strong grasp of local languages is a plus.
  • Nepal citizen or entitled to work in Nepal.
