Job Description
The Communities for Children project in the East Kimberley works to combat adversity and create lasting improvement in the circumstances of vulnerable children and families. We need a passionate practitioner to coordinate the project, developing and maintaining strategic cross disciplinary partnerships that will create better lives for children across WA.

54 reasons is Australia’s leading child rights organisation – no ordinary not-for-profit.

Proudly part of the Save the Children Australia Group and global movement, we’re here to make sure that everyone understands their rights. So that children and young people have their rights met and thrive, in all their diversity.

We champion the children, young people and families we work with. We are inspired by the curiosity and creativity of children and motivated by the love of those who care for them.

With the child’s voice at the centre, we provide quality services to children and their caregivers, advocating with them so that children develop, learn, and are connected, safe and confident. Our people are proudly local, reflective of the communities we serve – in every state and territory, and across regions, remote areas and capital cities.

Where you come in:

In this full time position, based in Kununurra you’ll provide strategic and operational support to the Regional Manager, to develop and deliver an integrated strategy for children in their early and middle years. Your primary responsibility will be facilitating the Communities for Children project in the East Kimberley and supporting community partners and other key stakeholders to ensure delivery of high quality programming. You’ll be part of our East Kimberley team and will report to our Regional Manager.

You will make an impact by:

  • Managing the successful delivery of the Communities for Children project
  • Undertaking project development activities for early and middle years programs, including submissions for donors, program design, and grant applications
  • Actively seeking opportunities to develop programs and the skills of program staff
  • Monitoring and evaluating project performance
  • Establishing and maintaining effective networks and relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Mentoring and support the Communities for Children Project Officer

Does this sound like you?

You’re a strategic thinker with the ability to support partners and teammates to achieve their best, and you’re motivated to continually strive for better performance. Passionate about championing creative and innovative solutions to transform the lives of children living in disadvantage, you’re looking to further develop your community development and project coordination experience across the picturesque East Kimberley region.

This role requires:

  • Degree in Community Development, Education, Early Childhood, Social Work or similar
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong networks and partnerships to drive project outcomes
  • Experience working with Aboriginal communities
  • Driver’s licence (car available for work use)
