1. POST CONTEXT
The Joint Logistics Support Group Headquarters commands and controls assigned Logistic, Engineer and Medical Units for the execution of JTF’s operational level plan.
The Plans, Training and Exercise Branch is responsible for the development of JLSG HQ tactical plans and orders, coordinating them higher, adjacent and subordinate levels, as well for the contribution to the operational level planning activities. The Plans & TREX Branch also coordinates JLSG HQ training and exercise preparation and the JLSG HQ contributions to doctrinal development.
The Training, Exercises (TREX) and Liaison Section is responsible for the preparation and training of the JLSG HQ for its deployment, through its commitment to the exercises and trainings development. The TREX Section is responsible for the planning and coordination of training and exercises in the scope of the JLSG HQ Baseline Activities and Current Operations (BACO). When deployed, the TREX Section will operate as a Liaison (LNO) Section and is directly under command of COM JLSG HQ. The LNO Section is responsible for effective communication and exchange of information with other stakeholders. The JLSG HQ LNOs will be assigned to higher and/or adjacent HQs as well as other Logistic stakeholders to ensure that the JLSG HQ Commander’s needs, requirements and intentions, along with accurate input to the receiving HQ planning process, are represented properly. Receiving HQs are expected to exchange LNOs on a reciprocal basis.
The incumbent will be responsible to set up and coordinate a cross-functional team, which will play a fundamental role in the identification and development of those capabilities required to be able to execute the new JLSG HQ assigned roles in the scope of the NATO 2030 Agenda. In particular, s/he will be responsible for implementing effective ways to acquire such capabilities by means of training interventions.
The incumbent will also be responsible for planning, coordinating and conducting readiness and pre-deployment training for JLSGNP HQ within the scope of NATO 2030 Agenda. This post reports to the TREX Section Head (OF-4).
2. DUTIES

The incumbent may be required to perform like duties elsewhere within the organization as directed.
The work is normally performed in a normal NATO office-working environment with artificial light and air conditioning. Normal Working Conditions apply. The risk of injury is categorized as “no risk”.
3. QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
ESSENTIAL
University Degree in the area of Training and Development with 4 years of post-related experience, or Higher Secondary education and completed Advanced Vocational Training, or equivalent studies, leading to a professional qualification or professional accreditation in the area of Training and Development with 5 years post related experience and 2 years function related experience.
The incumbent must possess a good knowledge in the development and implementation of training programs.
Must have experience in breaking down the skills to be acquired into concrete training objectives and training interventions.
Proven experience in collective training (e.g., exercises) planning as well as in the analysis of the results.
Experience in the use of computer tools developed for individual and collective training.
Sufficient knowledge of military training means and procedures, in the scope of NATO or any other multinational organization.
Must have an English Standard Language Proficiency level of “professional” in Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing (SLP 3333 based on NATO standards).
DESIRABLE
Experience in staff level work as a J7 Staff Officer in a multinational or national Joint Headquarters.
Previous experience in NATO is highly desirable, either occupying a civilian or military position.

4. POSITION AND CANDIDATE PROFILE
Personal attributes
The incumbent must possess courtesy, tact, diplomacy, mental alertness, negotiating skills and service-mindedness together with good health, stress tolerance and ability to work long hours when required. The incumbent must be able to travel frequently on temporary duty is an essential element of the duties.
Managerial Responsibilities
Must have the necessary qualities to lead a cross-functional work team that integrates personnel from the different areas involved in the development of each of the new capabilities.
Professional contacts
Required to interface on a regular basis with training and capability development counterparts within NATO Command Structure (ACO and/or ACT), as well as within the JLSG community of interest.
Contribution to the objectives
The incumbent must have the required skills to defend the interests of JLSGNP HQ in relation to the development and implementation of new training requirements to enhance the interoperability and deployability.
5. CONTRACT
The successful candidate will be offered a 3-year definite duration contract within the NATO Agenda 2030.
The basic entry-level monthly salary for a NATO Grade 15 (A-2) in Italy is Euro 5,743.74, which is not exempt from national taxation.
