BACKGROUND:

Passing Gifts Private Limited (PGPL) is a wholly owned subsidiary of Heifer International USA and it provides services in educating, consulting, training, advising, and providing professional and technical services to individuals, associations, and entities in India and abroad, particularly those who support or are working in the areas of social advancement and sustainable development. This position may also require service agreements, secondment agreements, between entities, etc.

FUNCTION:

The Project Manager will report to the Project Director and play a pivotal role in designing, implementing, and overseeing project development and aligned training programs for project partners, farmers, and Passing Gifts staff. The role is crucial in ensuring the achievement of Passing Gifts PVT LTD objectives, policies, and procedures.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DELIVERABLES: (including approximate percentage effort)

Facilitating Overall Project Management and Capacity Building (40%)

  • Provide oversight of the entire project management cycle and ensure project plans and milestones

are on time, budget, and scope;

  • Develop project strategies and implementation guidelines for smooth implementation of project activities;
  • Build the capacity of staff and project partners, supervise, monitor, coach and provide regular backstopping;
  • Ensure the quality of project input delivery such as trainings, materials, animals and infrastructures;
  • Ensure the implementation of the VBHCD approach (strong social capital) in the project communities;
  • Coordinate with the PGPL team as needed to ensure timely and quality project service delivery;
  • Maintain transparency and meet compliance during project implementation;
  • Strengthen SHGs through program activities;
  • Mobilize communities for group formation, savings, credit, inter-lending, and planning at the SHG/FPO level;
  • Ensure timely passing on of physical and training inputs from groups;
  • Support in the formation and strengthening of PMC and PIMCs and enhance their planning, monitoring and logistic support for project activities;
  • Mobilize communities to join FPOs and strengthen social capital in FPOs through training and PSRP;
  • Train and build the capacity of PGPL and partner staff in training and facilitation skills.

 

Monitoring, and Reporting (40%)

  • Ensure timely completion and sharing of project reports with the country office and team members;
  • Conduct monitoring and provide support to PGPL staff and partner staff to ensure quality and achieve project objectives and goals;
  • Facilitate all project program reporting to stakeholders;
  • Organize regular monthly meetings to review and prepare the plan for the next period and attend quarterly program review meetings;
  • Systematically document project successes and learnings.

 

Network and Partnership Management (15%)

  • Develop and maintain good working relationships with all project stakeholders, government institutions (SERP, AHD, DOA, KVK, etc.), private institutions, etc.;
  • Identify potential local government authority/ies for partnerships. Consider socio economic context, technical feasibility of selected value chains and strategic importance for market development;
  • Engage in continuous discussions with the local government and develop a common understanding on how the partnership can be strengthened with the support of the local government authority;

 

 

  • Develop and maintain links with relevant professional bodies;
  • Coordinate with related private sector (market actors, BFIs, insurance companies, agri companies, etc.) and value chain actors to ensure required services are available in an efficient manner.

May perform other job-specific duties as assigned (5%) QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

  • Bachelor’s degree plus seven (7) years of relevant experience OR Master’s degree plus five (5) years

of relevant experience in imparting training or education with an interest in community development work;

  • Fluent in Hindi, English, and the local language (spoken and written);
  • Good leadership qualities and communication skills;
  • Interest in animal/agriculture-based community development;
  • Excellent organizational skills with a strong attention to detail.

  • Willingness and ability to travel locally and internationally;
  • Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheets, PowerPoint, web designing, collaboration platform and tools, and electronic mail software (Microsoft preferred);
  • Constant sitting, standing, and walking, with occasional bending and lifting; may work at a computer for extended periods of time.
