The school anti-Trafficking Education and Advocacy Project (STEAP) aims to address the escalating issue of human trafficking in Nigeria, particularly targeting school-age children and young adults. Reflecting on global trends, where education is increasingly recognized as a pivotal tool in human trafficking prevention, STEAP seeks to strengthen awareness, enhance stakeholder capacity, foster collaborations with Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), and help create a conducive environment for the prevention of human trafficking amongst school age children in Nigeria. The initiative is a response to the disturbing statistics indicating the high prevalence of trafficking among minors, especially in West Africa where over 75% of detected trafficking victims are children.
