Job Description:

Background information:

From February 1st, 2023, World Vision Georgia is starting the project “ Leave no one behind – strengthening health and social systems affected by COVID-19 in Georgia”  in partnership with LEPL NCDC  with the financial support of the Austrian Development Agency (ADA). The project main goal is to implement effective communication, health, and protection measures to steer vulnerable population groups through the pandemic and to build community resilience for a sustainable, inclusive COVID-19 recovery in 15 Municipalities in 5 regions of Georgia: in the capital Tbilisi (all 5 Municipalities), in Imereti (Kutaisi, Zestafoni, Bagdati), Kakheti (Telavi, Gurjaani, Kvareli), Samtskhe-Javakheti (Adigeni, Akhaltsikhe, Borjomi) and Adjara (Batumi).

In this regard, within its specific objective main objective to strengthen the health system in Georgia and address the major secondary impacts of the pandemic, the project aims at addressing the gaps identified in the public health and social protection systems in consultation with local health and social partners,  particularly:

–  Vaccination decline (in 2021, the average routine vaccination coverage decreased dramatically for both traditional and new vaccines, including the vaccines against the COVID-19. As a result, a large part of the population is unwilling to get vaccinated against COVID-19. Additionally, the pandemic led to general vaccination fatigue and to the most significant decline in routine immunization in the last 30 years – a public health issue, the full consequences of which are not yet evident);

– Weakened health and child protection systems (in general, the health and social systems are weakened because of the challenges they had to meet during the pandemic);

–  Increased vulnerability of the most vulnerable: vulnerable population groups were most affected by COVID-19 and its repercussions and need extra support to overcome multiple effects.
