Job Purpose:

The Project Officer will assist with the implementation of the Safe School projects whereby children and young people in primary and secondary schools will learn how to prepare for disasters, how to manage and stay safe in disasters and how to reduce the risk of future disasters in their schools, families and communities. The project is currently being implemented in schools, with a growing portfolio subject to additional funding. The project officer would report to the CSS & DRM manager but also work in close coordinator with the Project Advocacy and Partnership Coordinator, as required, the coordinator would also support DRR trainings in school in other Plan working areas.

The Project Officer will provide effective back- office support for assigned administrative and communication tasks as well as occasional field support to Coordinator and consultant team with project beneficiaries and key stakeholders to meet the project’s goals, objectives and expectations as outlined in the project proposal, and in accordance with the P&IQP, ensuring updated SAP/PMERL module and effective utilization of P&IQP&MERL information for monitoring.

Closely working with the Project Coordinator, the Project Officer and/or the project staff of implementing partners will achieve positive and productive implementation of the project according to its KPIs and to ensure that the project’s goals, objectives and expectations as outlined in the project proposal, and in accordance with Plan International’s policies and procedures.

Dimensions of the Role:

Assisting CSS & DRM Manager and Project Coordinator to plan, implement and monitor activities under project support routine coordination with Safe School Working Group (SS-WG) and relevant GOs and CSO network in local and national level. Also, Project Officer provides effective back- office support for assigned administrative and communication tasks as well as occasional field support to Coordinator and consultant team with project beneficiaries and key stakeholders to meet the project’s goals, objectives and expectations as outlined in the project proposal, and in accordance with Plan International’s policies and procedures. Additionally, support and monitor the involvement of youth under the project, provide guidance and assistance to youth participants to ensure their active engagement and contribution to the project and track and report on youth-related project activities and outcomes.
