icddr,b is a Bangladesh-based international health research institute that strives to solve key public health problems through high-quality scientific research and innovation. icddrb as a values-based organization encourages women and people with disabilities.

The primary objective of the project which is under Programme for Emerging Infection is to identify the real cause of death and perform mortality surveillance activities across different hospitals in Faridpur and Rajbari district. The project is collaborating work with the Government to arrange different data to action activities and support stakeholder for the available data.

Key Responsibilities:

The Project Research Physician reporting to Research Investigator will be mainly responsible for the following duties and responsibilities:

• Work with Investigators on proposals and protocols development;
• Draft sections of protocols relating to research (e.g. questionnaire, guidelines);
• Review protocol for adherence to qualitative/quantitative research principles and make appropriate suggestions in order to support the creation of sound proposals and protocols with funding potential.
• Organize MITS procedure by following SOP under the guidance of Research Investigator, SRI and DPC;
• Conduct MITS procedure and enter data about transportation of samples to the virology Laboratory through strict guidelines.
• Taking Assertive and empathic consent form the deceased families in the Hospital,
• Participate and conduct orientation sessions for the health care providers of the Surveillance facilities, provide ward round regularly and update it to the team;
• Support research material development, train new field staff on delivery of CHAMPS intervention, conduct and supervise CHAMPS sessions;
• Transcribe and translate quantitative data, Entry of the outcome like follow-up of the unstable cases, admission, death, STB, MITS and Non-MITS cases in the CHAMPS Tracker and REDCap, address questions made by supervisors, investigators and donor, and finalize report;
• Supervision and troubleshooting field problem if required;
• Provide services to the “Call in Centre” according to the guideline;
• Entry data of “Call in Centre’s” by using Tab/smart phone and keep tract of the urgent referred cases and facilitate other information dissemination efforts in the study communities;
• Prepare and share weekly and monthly report and work plan as per deliverable.
• Review information on data captured and develop possible manuscript ideas under the guidance of Principal Investigator, Co-investigators, Senior Research Investigator and Project coordinator;
• Perform analysis based on direction from supervisor;
• Create a report with findings and share with supervisor;
• Write sections of the manuscript under supportive guidance of supervisor;
• Gather input and make corrections of manuscript;
• provide input and feedback in order to support scientific manuscript writing.
• Guide team members on completion of tasks, reports and documents (e.g. research methods);
• Provide on job training of junior staffs;
• Provide feedback on team members’ performance to supervisor in order to develop an efficient team.

Required qualifications and experience:

• MBBS degree with one year internship from a reputed institution with valid BMDC (Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council) registration.
• Experience in the field about Minimally Invasive tissue sampling and consent taking from the deceased families will be given preference.

Contract Type and duration:

• Short-Term Contractual Service Agreement: duration will be 7 months with a possibility of extension subject to availability of funds and performance.

Salary & benefits:

• Tk. 57,350/-(consolidated) per month inclusive of house rent and conveyance allowances.
• Festival bonus, income tax paid by icddr,b and subsidized canteen. Transport and daycare facilities are subject to space availability.
