Programme for Emerging Infections under Infectious Diseases Division is implementing Infection prevention and control (IPC) activities in different hospitals across the country. The project aims to improve the overall hospital IPC situation by providing intervention. The project will also emphasis on generating new evidence related to hospital IPC.

Position Description:

The Project Research Physician reporting to the Associate Scientist will provide IPC (infection prevention and control) intervention in hospital settings and facilitate IPC training for the HCWs (physician and nurse), attendants, and visitors to maintain IPC during hospital stay. The PRP will also maintain close liaison with the hospital IPC committee and leadership to facilitate IPC intervention and generate evidence on IPC.

The major areas of responsibilities may include but not limited to:

• Implementation of the project in the hospital settings and providing IPC intervention regularly
• Facilitate IPC training periodically for all levels of healthcare workers
• Ensure infection control practice and the security of the ward/unit comply with Health & Safety measures;
• Counsel patients, attendants and visitors to maintain IPC while staying in the hospitals
• Maintain liaison with the hospital IPC committee and leadership and work together to implement the best IPC practices
• Supervise study nurse regarding their day to day work
• Generate evidence on IPC as and when required

Required qualifications and experience:

• MBBS degree from a reputed medical college recognized by the Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council with completion of one-year internship training;
• At least 1 year of work experience in the hospital settings
• Candidates will be given preference who have working experience in studies related to Infection prevention and control

Location: Field site hospitals (Sylhet, Cumilla, Khulna and Dhaka) both government and non-government hospitals

Contract Type and duration:

• Short Term Contractual Service Agreement: duration will be 3 months with a possibility of extension subject to availability of funds and performance.

Salary & benefits:

• Tk. 57,350/-(consolidated) per month inclusive of house rent and conveyance allowances.
• Festival bonus, income tax paid by icddr,b and subsidized canteen. Transport and daycare facilities are subject to space availability.
