Project System Security Officer (PSSO) in the CSC Security Office within the Telecom Satellite Programmes Department in the Directorate of Connectivity and Secure Communication (D/CSC).
You will report directly to the Head of the CSC Security Office and functionally to programme/project managers, initially focusing on the ESA Secure Connectivity programme. You will be responsible for the security engineering activities in support of the Directorate’s secure space programmes and activities. In particular, you will be involved in the IRIS^2 programme.
This role will provide in-depth exposure to a wealth of satellite communications projects and the development of hardware products, requiring system-level competence, as well as the implementation of security assurance activities in accordance with the established ESA Security Framework.
You will interact closely with external stakeholders from European industry and institutional representatives. The role will also involve cross-agency collaboration.
Your tasks and responsibilities will include:
• following the satellite mission and system analyses;
• performing threat modelling and security risk analysis of satellite communication systems;
• embedding security assurance activities in compliance with the ESA Security Framework;
• overseeing the development and deliverables of industry activities;
• participating actively in the generation of security requirement specifications;
• reporting and updating executives and management on the status of the security risks assessed;
• planning and facilitating the certification and accreditation activities in coordination with the ESA Security Office;
• supporting day-to-day activities within your area of competence;
• supporting the D/CSC Security Awareness programme.

A master’s degree in security engineering, aerospace engineering or telecommunications engineering is required for this post.
At least four years of industry experience in a system engineering role is required, together with at least five years of demonstrable professional experience in a security role.
Experience in working on sensitive, classified European programmes, knowledge of security solutions for satellite telecommunications networks and/or knowledge of other security standards, such as NIST, is desirable.
Knowledge of technical domains in telecommunications and of satellite communication system architectures and products would be an asset.

The working languages of the Agency are English and French. A good knowledge of one of these is required. Knowledge of another Member State language would be an asset.
