Could you play a key role in supporting our workforce to meet the mental health and psychosocial needs of those who use our services?
We are looking for dynamic and enthusiastic Psychosocial Practitioner to join our Psychosocial and Mental Health team.
The Psychosocial Practitioner will be essential in ensuring the wellbeing of our Refugee support and Restoring Family Links, Anti-trafficking, Crisis Response and Health services.
If you are a mental health professional passionate about helping people, this could be the ideal opportunity for you. You’ll be making a tangible difference to the people you assist and helping ensure our workforce is in the best position to support others and help people in crisis. The Psychosocial Practitioner will be clinically qualified and with significant experience of running clinical supervision and reflective practice sessions.
Supporting vulnerable people in crisis is at the heart of what we do. However, this doesn’t just apply to people out with our organisation. We want to make sure that our workforce is fully supported when it comes to emotional wellbeing, so our people feel they are in a great position to help others. We provide clinical supervision and meet the wellbeing needs of the workforce (staff and volunteers) who support people in crisis (particularly refugees and those being reunited with their families who have leave to remain).
It’s a complex and dynamic environment to work in and you’d be joining as a Psychosocial Practitioner at an exciting but challenging time as the psychosocial team is expanding to deliver the Resilient Responders scheme, and work closely with the Head of Psychosocial and operational colleagues to provide psychosocial support within the organisation. You will need to achieve significant reach, influence and impact with senior managers and professionals within the Red Cross in order to ensure the highest quality service.

A day in the life of a Psychosocial Practitioner will involve:

Providing psychosocial resources to our workforce delivering services.
Working closely with teams across the area, establishing regular clinical supervision, reflective practice groups, one to one sessions and workshops.
Leading on promoting the success of psychosocial wellbeing of the workforce across the UK.

To be a successful Psychosocial Practitioner, you’ll need:

A relevant mental health qualification (e.g. Postgraduate Degree or other professional qualification related to psychosocial support (e.g. Clinical Psychology, Psychiatry, Psychotherapy or Social Work)) and current accreditation status with a UK mental health professional body (e.g. HCPC).
Proven experience and professional expertise in trauma reactions, mental health issues and the management and negotiation of complex situations involving staff/volunteer welfare.
Previous work experience with service users who have experienced crisis.
Excellent communications skills. You have the ability to facilitate and navigate discussions with service users.
Ability to persuade and influence staff members at all levels of the organisations (and within the NHS or similar environment).
Demonstrable experience of engaging with practical issues of service development and delivery.
Attention to detail to assimilate information and provide clear analysis.
Proven work experience in leading the provision of staff support and/or developing systems to promote well-being.

The closing date for applications is 23:59 hrs on Wednesday 10th May 2023 with interviews to follow on Tuesday 23rd May.
Please note that early application is encouraged, as we’ll be reviewing applications throughout the advertising period and reserve the right to close the advert in advance of the advertised closing date.

In return for your commitment and expertise, you’ll get:

Holidays: You’ll get 36 days annual leave (including bank holidays) and the option to buy an additional 5 days leave.
Pension Scheme: We offer up to 6% contributory pension.
Flexible working: We will do what we can to make sure you work in a way that suits you.
Learning & Development Opportunities: We are one of the UK’s largest charities and have a wide range of career opportunities. We also provide comprehensive learning opportunities for staff to develop themselves.

At The British Red Cross, we pride ourselves on our diverse workforce, and ensuring we have an inclusive environment for all our staff and volunteers. We remain committed to ensuring our teams can bring their true selves to work without risk or fear of discrimination. We do this through regular data reporting, and the support of our internal Race and Equality Network (REEN), LGBT+ Network, our Disability and Wellness Network (DAWN), Gender Network, Carers Network and Youth Network.
