Organizational Setting

The IAEA has an extensive publishing programme, implemented by MTCD Publishing Section which acts as the publishing house for the IAEA, producing a wide range of publications on nuclear related issues, online and in print. The Section provides high quality and adaptable publishing options that support the changing publishing and information dissemination requirements of the IAEA.

MTCD Publishing Section is responsible for offering a wide range of professional publishing services from author support, editing and production, graphic design, electronic publishing, printing and dissemination.

Main Purpose

Reporting to the Unit Head, and with reference to the yearly marketing plan, the Publications Dissemination Assistant (Marketing) works on all promotion and dissemination activities relating to IAEA scientific and technical publications. S/he also acts to support authors, customers and other stakeholders in the publications.

Functions / Key Results Expected

  • Implement the annual marketing plan and contribute to its planning and review, giving input across the range of dissemination modalities.
  • Implement title-specific dissemination campaigns utilizing both traditional and contemporary methods.
  • Undertake research into promotional opportunities and follow up these opportunities. This would include but is not limited to: liaison with conference organizers, with colleagues in the technical divisions to leverage their professional networks, and with colleagues in Office for Public Information and Communication (OPIC) for social media and online news.
  • Undertake the preparation of publications catalogues, brochures, leaflets, e-shots, and other communication tools.
  • Coordinate the generation of book descriptions for the web and catalogues, and related copy for other purposes. This would include drafting and checking and liaison with Originators, the Editors and the Unit Head.
  • Update and maintain relevant publications / preprint databases.
  • Generate reports on dissemination activities and their results, including compilation of data on usage of the online publications via different tools.
  • Undertake other publications marketing, promotion and dissemination activities, as appropriate.

Qualifications, Experience and Language skills

  • Completed secondary education.
  • At least five years relevant working experience.
  • Significant experience working in a communications / promotion / marketing role, contributing to the development and implementation of campaigns.
  • Good understanding of marketing techniques and tools.
  • Experience drafting copy, and other marketing content for a variety of purposes, including print, digital, social media.
  • Experience in graphic design is an asset.
  • Experience within the publishing industry is an asset.
  • Experience in market research, data analysis and web analytics is an asset.
  • Excellent oral and written command of English. Knowledge of other official IAEA languages (Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish) is an asset.
  • Admin skills test to IAEA standard might be part of the process.

Remuneration

The IAEA offers an attractive remuneration package including a tax-free annual net base salary starting at EUR 52860 (subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance), 6 weeks’ annual vacation, pension plan and health insurance

Appointment is subject to a satisfactory medical report. Recruitment will be on a LOCAL BASIS only. Outside applicants are required to supply to the IAEA or to authorize it to seek all information relevant to their suitability for employment by the IAEA. Testing may be part of the recruitment process.
