Mission and objectives
United National Development Programme (UNDP) works in over 170 countries and territories, including Kazakhstan, helping eradicate poverty and reduce inequalities and exclusion. We have been part of the country’s development progress since 1992 having implemented more than 200 projects worth over 200 million USD in a wide array of thematic areas. We have been providing targeted policy support to civil service and public administration reforms, efforts, contributing to anti-corruption and more government transparency, prevention of gender-based violence, promotion of the rights of people with disabilities, and access to justice. Environmental governance, climate change adaptation and low-carbon development are also among our flagship partnership initiatives in Kazakhstan.
Context
UNDP requires research support to strengthen its programming in local governance, local development, innovation, digital transformation, and capacity building. This assignment will contribute to evidence-based project development and enhance the organization’s knowledge base in these priority areas. The research outputs will directly support UNDP’s efforts to promote sustainable development and effective governance at the local level.
Task Description
The Online Volunteer will: – Conduct comprehensive desk research on local governance, local development, innovation, digital transformation, and capacity building. – Synthesize findings into clear, actionable insights to support project development – Prepare analytical briefs and summaries of research findings – Support the development of project/programme proposals through evidence-based research – Generate innovative ideas and recommendations based on research findings – Participate in virtual team meetings and provide regular progress updates via email Working Arrangements – Fully remote position with flexible working hours – Regular communication via email and Microsoft Teams meetings – Independent work with virtual supervision and guidance – Assignments and deliverables to be submitted electronically – Certificate of completion will be provided upon successful completion of the assignment Expected Outputs – Regular research briefs and summaries (at least 5) – Analytical inputs for project/programme development (at least 2)
