The incumbent is responsible to ensure – partially – the successful implementation of Activities 2.1.1, 2.1.2, 3.1.1, and 3.1.2 of the XB funded project on scaling up ultra-poor graduation out of poverty in Egypt (funded by Sawiris Foundation for Social Development).

Duties and Responsibilities
The advertised position aims at providing key technical support to the implementation of the project: Effective and efficient poverty reduction management in Egypt and other Arab Countries. The project assists Egypt’s Ministry of Social Solidarity (MoSS) with scaling up an effective ultra poor graduation approach under the MoSS. To this end, the individual contractor is expected to perform the following duties/responsibilities: Ultra-poor graduation project tasks: • 2.1.1: Support the implementation of a national training workshop aiming to provide capacity development to key MoSS and TKP staff on automated clustering/profiling within TKP procedures to establish vulnerability profiles of newly registered TKP beneficiaries/candidates ; • 2.1.2: Provide advisory services for MoSS and TKP technical staff to establish and integrate the automated clustering/profiling of TKP beneficiaries and beneficiary candidates into TKP MIS (i.e., coding/programing of routine statistical procedures); • 3.1.1: Support the development and introduction of a coherent set of statistical applications, which enable the optimal adjustment of social assistance design parameters (eligibility criteria, enrolment cut-off points, benefit levels etc. to strengthen the pro-poor management of social assistance etc.); • 3.1.2: Support the tailoring of the CD-SPOT toolbox to the specific needs and conditions of Egypt and the MoSS and institutionalizes it in MoSS management IT hardware and software Contributing to the development of a variety of studies, training materials, reports, background papers, etc. on a wide range of social protection topics; General tasks: • Providing administrative and substantial servicing to meetings, conferences, seminars, workshops, etc. including the development of background documentation and presentations, keeping notes during meetings and preparing meeting reports, etc.; • Performing other duties to support the team as required.
Qualifications/special skills
A master’s degree in statistics, epidemiology, empirical social sciences, economics or other related academic background is required All candidates must submit a copy of the required educational degree. Incomplete applications will not be reviewed. A minimum of three years of work experience in data analysis (preferably in R) is required. Research and analytical skills on data analysis is required. Ability to conduct training/workshops is required. Teaching experiences on how to apply R or similar statistical packages are desirable. Previous experience in a Non-profit organization in the Arab region is desirable.
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat; and Arabic is a working language of ESCWA. For this position, fluency in English and Arabic is required. Knowledge of French is desirable. Note: “Fluency” equals a rating of ‘fluent’ in all four areas (speak, read, write, and understand) and “Knowledge of” equals a rating of ‘confident’ in two of the four areas.
