icddr,b, in collaboration with partners will implement “USAID’s Community Nutrition and Health Activity (CNHA)” both at national and sub-national levels. Under CNHA, the consortium will work with different departments of the ministries, especially the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) of the Government of Bangladesh (GoB) at the national, regional, and local levels, to improve nutrition status by strengthening the community health system and support the effective implementation of the Second National Plan of Action for Nutrition (NPAN2).

Position Description:

The Research Assistant will report to the Principal Investigator and Research Investigator. The position holder will be responsible for collecting qualitative and quantitative data, collecting monitoring data, transcription, summary of the interview, data management, and data analysis under “USAID’s Community Nutrition and Health Activity (CNHA)” project. S/he will be involved in –

• Collect qualitative data using methods such as in-depth interviews, focus group discussions, key informant interviews, or any other applicable methods
• Collect quantitative data and monitoring data
• Transcribe the collected qualitative data
• Share initial findings with supervisor and seek inputs from the summary interview
• Conduct coding of the transcribed data by using ATLAS.ti
• Conduct literature review when needed

Required qualifications and experience:

• Bachelor degree in relevant discipline (Preferable subjects are Anthropology, Public Health, Sociology, and Statistics) with good academic records,
• At least 1 year of experience in data collection, data analysis (qualitative data analysis by using ATLAS.ti and quantitative data analysis by Statistical software), and interpretation.
• Proficiency in Bengali typing is mandatory;

Contract Type and Duration:

• Short Term Contractual Service Agreement basis; duration will be 3 months with a possibility of extension subject to availability of funds and performance.

Salary & benefits:

• Tk. 37,661/- per month (consolidated) inclusive of house rent and conveyance allowances;
• Festival bonus, income tax paid by icddr,b and subsidized canteen; Transport and daycare facilities are subject to space availability.
