The IC will report to the regional advisor on transport and logistics, and work in close collaboration with other counterparts in the project. The IC shall fulfill his/her tasks with monthly and quarterly reports on the tasks and project progress.

Duties and Responsibilities
The Shared Economic Prosperity Cluster, Cluster 3, at ESCWA require the assistance of an individual contractor on transport and logistics.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The IC on road safety data will namely be required to assist the regional advisor on transport and logistics in accomplishing the following tasks:
– Identify the current gaps and loopholes in the existing processes of collecting, processing and analyzing police records on road crash fatalities and injuries in the Arab countries,
– Conceptualize the elements of the optimal template for road crash recording through the use of handheld devices,
– Release and validate the prototype of the harmonized digital form for handheld devices (mobile application),
– Prepare guidelines for road crash data collection, processing and analysis,
– Design and implement capacity building workshops and materials,
– Perform any additional task requested by the regional advisor on transport and logistics.
Qualifications/special skills
A Master’s degree in transport/road safety or related area is required.

A minimum of 2 years of professional work experience in transport and/or road safety georeferenced data and GIS is required.
Experience and knowledge in road safety policies and strategies is desirable.
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat; and Arabic is a working language of ESCWA.
For this position, fluency in Arabic and English is required, and knowledge of French is desirable.
Note: “Fluency” equals a rating of ‘fluent’ in all four areas (speak, read, write, and understand) and “Knowledge of” equals a rating of ‘confident’ in two of the four areas.
