The individual contractor will be responsible to compile data needed to develop datasets and conduct a large set of quantitative and qualitative data analysis at different scales and coverage. The IC will also work in a team environment and to report to the coordinator of the project.

Duties and Responsibilities
The project is to promote the integration of social, economic, and environmental data and to fill in data gaps for the monitoring of sustainable development goals in the Arab world. The focus is on enhancing statistical data acquisition and dissemination and on showcasing user-centric analytical capabilities for future capacity-building activities.
1. Objective and methodology
• To develop datasets and conduct a large set of quantitative and qualitative data analysis at different scales and coverage.
• To Implement, hands-on, statistical analytical work and conduct comparative spatial analyses with emphasis on quality assurance and control.
• To assist build a geostatistical data clearinghouse.
• To work in a team environment and to report to the coordinator of the project.
2. Tasks – duties and responsibilities
• Contribute to collating statistical databases and portal applications.
• Locate and identify regional, national, and subnational data.
• Develop efficient data collection, analysis, and dissemination methods.
• Document the quality, accuracy, and consistency of data.
• Help in the development of indicators.
• Produce dashboards, charts, maps, and infographics.
• Participate in data validation.
Qualifications/special skills
A Bachelor’s degree in statistics, economics, social sciences or related area is required.

No previous work experience is required for this job opening.
Knowledge of statistical concepts, sources, and methods is desirable.
Skills in developing database, analytical research and data compilation is desirable.
Good planning and organizational skills, and the ability to work flexibly and under pressure to meet tight deadlines is desirable.
Languages
Languages English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat; and Arabic is a working language of ESCWA.
For this position, fluency in Arabic and English is required.
Note: “Fluency” equals a rating of ‘fluent’ in all four areas (speak, read, write, and understand) and “Knowledge of” equals a rating of ‘confident’ in two of the four areas.
