The Project “Evaluation of a business model of multiple micronutrient supplementations (MMS) project for Bangladeshi pregnant women” will comprise of both process and outcome evaluation, complementing each other. The design will be a quasi-experimental cluster-based open cohort, two-arm, mixed-methods design. The evaluation would take place in 5 divisions of Bangladesh: Barishal, Chattogram, Dhaka, Rajshahi, and Sylhet.
Position Description:
The Research Fellow will report to the Principle Investigator (PI) and will be responsible for supporting PI in preparing research concepts and protocols; planning, organizing, and directing for implementation of research activities; and writing manuscripts with the objective of self-development and providing relevant research to icddr,b under the guidance and supervision of the supervisor and organizational values and guidelines. She/he will also be involved in –
- Assist supervisor to design qualitative research data collection tools and administer it;
- Monitor the progress of research and escalate issues to the supervisor where needed;
- Deploy data collection method (e.g. identify target group, gain consensus, administer the survey, etc.);
- Conduct detailed qualitative data analysis;
- Share study findings with supervisor and seek inputs;
- Estimate requirements for financial and non-financial resources based on research methodology;
- Coordinate with internal teams to get resources for the execution of the project;
- Assign responsibilities to the team and initiate activities as per the project plan;
- Review scientific articles and explore different research ideas;
- Apply scientific analysis to research findings and derive implications for public health;
- Learn and create detailed research design and methodology;
- Prepare different format and present in the relevant committee and make necessary changes according to comments/inputs;
- Prepare manuscript/research report for publication in international peer-reviewed journals.
Required qualifications and experience:
Young, bright individuals who meet the following criteria and are aspiring to develop their careers as public health researchers in the research-based environment at icddr,b are encouraged to apply.
- Masters in Anthropology;
- Outstanding academic results (at least 3.5 out of 4 scales both in Bachelor and Masters) from reputed universities enlisted by University Grant Commission of Bangladesh (UGC)).

- Candidates who demonstrate exceptional research skills will be given priority;
- Must be willing to travel extensively to different communities in the study areas (within and outside of Dhaka);

Contract Type and Duration:
- Fellowship agreement; duration will be 1 year with a possibility of extension subject to availability of funds and performance.
Salary & Benefits:
Stipend: Tk.51,090/-per month (consolidated) inclusive of house rent and conveyance allowances. Income tax paid by icddr,b, and subsidized canteen and Transport is subject to space availability.
Evaluation & Certification: The progress of the Fellows will be monitored and evaluated. On successful completion of training and final evaluation, the Research Fellow will be awarded a certificate.
