The Programme for HIV and AIDS under the Infectious Diseases Division at icddr,b provides quality HIV prevention services to vulnerable populations at risk of HIV infection. Programme for HIV & AIDS is conducting research studies and surveillance on SRHR among MSM / MSW / Hijra in Dhaka and FSW in Jashore.

Brief Description of Position:

The Research Investigator reporting to Senior Manager (M&E) will be mainly responsible for following duties and responsibilities:

• Create detailed project plan covering milestones, deliverables etc.;
• Train staff on data collection and sample collection procedures;
• Organize field-test and finalize data collection tools;
• Prepare study report particularly based on quantitative data
• Secure financial and non-financial resources;
• Assign work to team and initiate activities as per project plan;
• Supervise data collection; coach staff on how to address issues faced during field-work;
• Monitor quality of data collected and response rates against timelines and research criteria;
• Take corrective actions to comply with donor mandates and research protocols
• Critically assess data quality; apply rigorous scientific analysis to derive meaningful inferences from data;
• Guide team to analyze data and draw appropriate scientific inferences;
• Present findings to other scientists and seek inputs; derive implications for public health;
• Discuss preliminary findings with key stakeholders; deliberate on those inputs and develop sound scientific manuscripts;
• Actively disseminate the knowledge at conferences and seminars;
• Develop articles for peer-reviewed journals;
• Conduct peer reviews of manuscripts of other researchers
• Involve junior scientists in discussions, manuscript writing etc;
• Conduct workshops and training sessions to share knowledge and experiential learning;
• Promote a spirit of collegiality and gender diversity amongst team members and in the organization;
• Address and resolve any diversity related issues;
• Set high standards and confront poor performance where needed.

• MBBS with Masters in Public Health or in any development field;
• At least 5 years of practical experience with both quantitative and qualitative research projects. However, preference will be given to those who have experience in preparing reports on quantitative research, writing manuscripts, project proposals, and supervising large-scale field data collection.
• Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office is must.
• Prior knowledge of sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) will be an added advantage.

Duty station: Dhaka

• Short-Term Contractual Service Agreement; duration will be 11 months with a possibility of extension subject to availability of funds and performance.

Number of post: 01

• Tk 1,21,585/-per month (consolidated) inclusive of house rent and conveyance allowances;
• Festival bonus, income tax paid by icddr,b and subsidized canteen, Transport and daycare facilities are subject to space availability.
