icddr,b invites applications from suitable candidates for the position of Research Investigator with Gender, Equity and Rights Research Group under the Health Systems and Population Studies Division. The appointment will be made on a CSA basis for 6 Months which is renewable depending on the performance and availability of funds.

The Gender, Equity and Rights Research Group under the Health Systems and Population Studies Division focuses on Advancing Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (AdSEARCH) project aimed to improve sexual and reproductive health (SRH) outcomes and realize rights among different population groups with distinct SRH needs in Bangladesh. To be implemented by researchers from different divisions of icddr,b, this research project will explore, understand, and assess some key components of SRHR among different population groups who have the highest-burden, distinct needs and vulnerabilities. These groups include adolescents and young adults, newly married couples, pregnant women, neonates and under-five children, women working in the RMG sector and key population for their particular vulnerability and/or marginalization. The project will be focusing on generating new evidence related to family planning, abortion, post-abortion care, STI/RTIs, and reproductive cancers and maternal and neonatal health.

Brief Position Description:
The Research Investigator reporting to Emeritus Scientist in the team and will be responsible for developing concept notes, participating in proposal and protocol writing, coordinating surveys, participating in qualitative data collection, data processing, analyses, and writing up of the results using mixed method research and adhering to organizational values.

The Research Investigator will be mainly responsible for following duties and responsibilities:

• Generate new research ideas and develop research proposal/protocol and overall strategy to implement the research studies/projects;
• Coordinate quantitative surveys, train data collectors; oversee field activities; identify areas of improvement and provide necessary assistance as and when required, oversee data processing, conduct data analyses;
• Coordinate qualitative studies, train data collectors; oversee field activities; identify areas of improvement and provide necessary assistance as and when required, collect qualitative data, conduct coding and analyses;
• Prepare reports and papers;
• Disseminate study findings;
• Coordinate collaborative projects.

Required qualification and experience:

• Masters in Public Health/Demography/Population Sciences/Sociology with good academic records;

• Minimum 5 years of experience in qualitative research (preferably in gender; women’s empowerment; violence against women and children; sexual and reproductive health and rights).
• Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office is must along with skills in using data analysis software such as SPSS or STATA and Atlas.ti or MAXQDA or Nvivo

Location: Dhaka.

Contract Type and duration:

• CSA; duration will be 6 Months with a possibility of extension subject to availability of fund and performance.

Salary & benefits:

• Tk 1,21,585/-per month (consolidated) inclusive of house rent and conveyance allowances;
• Festival bonus, income tax paid by icddr,b and subsidized canteen, Transport and daycare facilities are subject to space availability.
