The primary objective of the project which is under Programme for Emerging Infection is to identify the real cause of death and perform mortality surveillance activities across different hospitals in Faridpur and Rajbari district. The project is collaborate work with the Government to arrange different data to action activities and support stakeholder for the available data

Key Responsibilities:

The Research Investigator reporting to Senior Research Investigator will be mainly responsible for the following duties and responsibilities:

• Create detailed research design, methodology and SOP to achieve the study objectives;
• Develop and test research methodology in order to conduct research;
• Circulate new protocol drafts internally and externally, seek feedback and modify accordingly;
• Contribute to other colleagues’ research protocols in order to develop effective protocols that meet the new research objectives;
• Ensure surveillance quality of the selected health facilities;
• Coordinate different activities of the other components of the project;
• Train newly hired staff on study procedure and quality assurance;
• Manage day to day project activities and report to the supervisor on regular basis;
• Ensure completeness and quality of data;
• Lead clinical team consisting of physician, medical technologist and consent taker;
• Actively participated in the data to action activities;
• Monitoring the progress of planned activities and reporting to the supervisor;
• Present study objectives and activities to bigger forum;
• Maintain close liaison with different stakeholders especially the government counterpart;
• Prepare and share weekly and monthly report and work plan as per deliverable.
• Prepare report and share findings with the supervisor to execute activities in accordance with project plan;
• Work jointly with supervisor and other team members to develop articles for peer-reviewed journals;
• Conduct peer reviews of manuscripts of other researchers to ensure effective analysis and translation of research report;
• Train junior research staff on project designing, literature review, data interpretation and analysis;
• Train junior researchers on biological sample collection; handling and disposing of bio-hazardous to ensure the safe working environment

Required qualifications and experience:

• MBBS degree with one year internship from a reputed institution with valid BMDC (Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council) registration.
• At least 4 years of experience in both active and passive hospital surveillance especially in pediatric and obstetric ward
• Preference will be provided to the candidates having advanced analytical skill and track record of published manuscript/abstract

Location: Faridpur

Contract Type and duration:

• Fixed Term; duration will be 1 Year with a possibility of extension subject to availability of funds and performance.

Salary & benefits:

• Annual 14,59,020/- inclusive of house rent, conveyance allowances and other admissible benefits
• 14.8% provident fund contribution, income tax paid by icddr,b, children allowance @Tk.1,917/- per child per month, festival bonus, contributory healthcare support including dependent spouse and children, group life insurance, and subsidized canteen. Transport and day-care facilities are subject to space availability.
