The program of Enteric and Respiratory Infections under the Infectious Diseases Division conducts research with Mucosal Immunology and Vaccinology Unit (MIVU) for immunological and molecular genomic analyses for different enteric organisms. To achieve this goal icddr,b is working for controlling enteric infections, detecting and controlling emerging and re-emerging infections with the collaboration of the relevant government and non-government stakeholders.
Position Description:
The Research Investigator reporting to the Senior Scientist will be required to plan, direct and conduct the implementation of research activities and perform data analysis, modeling from big dataset with the objective of collecting relevant research data for creating knowledge within the guidelines of the research protocol and organizational values and guidelines. The specific areas of responsibilities include:
- Create detailed research design, methodology and SOP to achieve the study objectives;
- Develop and testing research methodology in order to conduct research;
- Laboratory data analysis, prepare scientific report and present findings to supervisor to seek inputs;
- Supervise data management activities, maintaining database security, and supporting secondary data analysis;
- Prepare report, PowerPoint presentations and share findings with the supervisor to execute activities in accordance with project plan;
- Train junior research staff on biostatistics, modelling and data interpretation and analysis;
- Provide comprehensive training, supervision, and continuous monitoring of data collection quality;
- Organize and facilitate data analysis workshops for the skill development of non-statistical personnel;
- Collaborate closely with the research team to develop data collection tools, metrics, and work plans;
- Involve with the data management of big data/nationally representatives surveys.
- Design and execute meticulous data cleaning procedures for research datasets;
- Conducting data analysis to achieve study objectives and preparing summary data tables, graphs, and presentations;
- Conducting sophisticated statistical and mathematical modeling on research data;
- Supporting the Principal Investigator (PI) in proposal, protocol, and manuscript writing.
- Engage directly with stakeholders for effective collaboration and communication.
Required qualification and experience:
- M. Sc. in Microbiology/Biochemistry/Biotechnology/Molecular Biology/Statistics/Biostatistics/Applied Statistics/Bioinformatics with good academic records;
- 05 years of working experience on genomics work and bioinformatics. Applicants should have educational background or substantial research experiences on statistical analysis and should have very good knowledge on biostatistics. Applicant must have very good knowledge on OMIC works too.
- Should have skill in running statistical program and able to do complete analyses and make report; Proficient in statistical programming languages including STATA/R;
- 2-3 years of experience in analyzing health/laboratory data.
Location: Dhaka.
Contract Type and duration:
- Fixed Term; duration will be 1 Year with a possibility of extension subject to availability of fund and performance.
Salary & benefits:
- Annual Tk.14,59,020/-inclusive of house rent, conveyance, and other admissible benefits;
- 14.8% provident fund contribution, income tax paid by icddr,b, children allowance @Tk.1,917/- per child per month, festival bonus, contributory healthcare support including dependent spouse and children, group life insurance, and subsidized canteen. Transport and daycare facilities are subject to space availability.
