icddr,b is inviting young, bright individuals, who are aspiring to develop their careers as public health researchers in the dynamic research environment, to apply for the position of Research Investigator under the Maternal and Child Health Division. The appointment will be made on a Fixed-Term basis for 2 years which is renewable depending on performance and availability of funds.
Position Description:
The Research Investigator will be required to play a pivotal role in planning, directing, and managing research activities to collect and analyze relevant research data and share the findings for policy influence. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in research methodologies, critical thinking skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment. S/he should be proactive, dynamic, and capable of working independently.
The Research Investigator will be responsible for the following:
- Research Proposal and Protocol Development: Develop research proposals that include a thorough research design and methodology and apply for grant funding opportunities. Develop research protocols, distribute drafts of them both internally and externally, get feedback and make necessary revisions, and help the research team to obtain approval from icddr,b’s Research Review Committee and Ethical Review Committee.
- Data Management, Knowledge Creation, and Translation: Critically assess data quality and integrity, collect and accurately record valid data, conduct associative and descriptive analysis, interpret data, and communicate research findings to internal and external audiences in the most comprehensible way.
- Scientific Writing and Publication: Conduct scientific literature review with updated information, participate in writing the research results and publish in international, peer-reviewed journals as first-author and/or co-authors.
- Project Management: Support the research team to hire and train project staff for data collection, arrange field-testing and finalizing of data collection tools, assign work to team members and initiate activities as per project plan, monitor data collection and ensure data quality, coach staff on how to address issues faced during fieldwork. Prepare and track the research budget efficiently.
Required qualifications and experience:
Education and relevant experience:
- An excellent academic record from a reputed University with having Master’s degree in Public Health/ Statistics/ Applied Statistics/Biostatistics/Epidemiology/ Economics/ Sociology/ Anthropology/ Development Studies/ Population Science/ Bioinformatics/ Information Technology,
Or, MBBS with MPH
- At least 3 years of working experience in public health with strong interpersonal and excellent communication and writing skills in English.
- Length of experience may be relaxed to 2 years for the candidates who demonstrated exceptional research skills and/or publications in international peer-reviewed journals.

Contract Type and Duration:
- Fixed Term; duration will be 2 years with a possibility of extension subject to performance.
Salary & benefits:
- Annual Tk. 15,31,970/- inclusive of house rent, conveyance, and other admissible benefits;
- 14.8% provident fund contribution, income tax paid by icddr,b, children allowance @Tk.1,917/- per child per month, festival bonus, contributory healthcare support including dependent spouse and children, group life insurance, and subsidized canteen. Transport and daycare facilities are subject to space availability.
