The Programme for Emerging Infections under the Infectious Diseases Division conducts research for multiple projects. The team involved in Nipah Virus Research collaborates with national and international partners to conduct nationwide surveillance, outbreak response, and various studies focused on Nipah virus epidemiology, transmission, prevention, and therapeutics contributing to global health security efforts.
Position Description:
The Research Investigator will report to the Project Coordinator and will be mainly responsible for planning, organizing, implementing, coordinating studies, analyzing data, as well as taking part in outbreak response and public health emergency to attain study objectives within the guidelines of the research protocol and organizational values. The specific areas of responsibilities include:
- Develop new research ideas, concept notes and research proposals;
- Conduct literature review;
- Develop research design and detailed methodology to achieve the study objectives;
- Contribute to other research protocols of the team;
- Participate in outbreak response and emergency conditions if needed;
- Clinical examination of the case patients to record vital clinical features;
- Clinical follow-up of the surviving case patients;
- Monitor data collection, ensure data quality, and coach staff on how to address issues faced during fieldwork;
- Write up findings as reports, papers, briefs;
- Impart training on research methods, project design and methods, research tools, field procedures, data coding and analysis;
- Create detailed project plans covering milestones, deliverables etc.;
- Assign work to team members and initiate activities as per the project plan;
- Develop and revise tools; Prepare research communication materials;
- Coordinate and liaise with stakeholders in the country and abroad, the GoB and NGOs;
- Prepare and track the research budget efficiently.
Required qualifications and experience:
- MBBS degree with MPH in Epidemiology;
- Minimum 4 years of experience in relevant field;
- Preference will be given to those having experience in implementing research activities on outbreak response or emergency preparedness and response.

Contract Type and Duration:
- Fixed Term; duration will be 1 year with a possibility of extension subject to performance.
Salary & benefits:
- Annual Tk. 15,31,970/- inclusive of house rent, conveyance, and other admissible benefits;
- 14.8% provident fund contribution, income tax paid by icddr,b, children allowance @Tk.1,917/- per child per month, festival bonus, contributory healthcare support including dependent spouse and children, group life insurance, and subsidized canteen. Transport and daycare facilities are subject to space availability.
